So I'd been trying to troubleshoot this same problem, with a bunch of mods installed, and decided it was best just to start over from scratch... I'm crashing after character creation, while going up the hill to the Vault in the Intro. (While I still was trying the modded install, I was crashing when going down the hill out of the Vault). After several crashes at the same location, I installed ENB (v0.468) just to enable the extra memory (I set it to 32GB). Still crashing... I alternated between trying to load an existing autosave, and just creating a new character at each step, it made no difference. Sgt. Marge Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 I would not recommend cleaning plugins. That can cause huge issues with other mods. Do you have buffout? https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/47359 Also I'd recommend verifying the game files in Steam and then don't clean the plugins.

Did you run the game at least once from the steam launcher before starting to mod it? Did you install any mods directly to the games data folder on your hard drive? Are you using the f4se_launcher to launch the game?

It should be a text file starting with the word "crash-" If you aren't getting a crash text file, see if you have "buffout.log"
izzyknows Posted April 24, 2022 Posted April 24, 2022 Just a suggestion, uninstall the High Resolution pack. It's a waste anyway. Also, verifying the files through Steam (although good to do) will not detect a corrupted file, because the files size doesn't change.

I will diable the High Res DLC after I make sure the rest of the game is working. I will usually delete the esp's and force Steam to download new ones, so I should be fine there?

Thanks so much for your help so far. Normally I can work through stuff like this, but I've been battling it for almost two weeks now and was at my wits end. Not that I had far to go ? I will diable the High Res DLC after I make sure the rest of the game is working. I will usually delete the esp's and force Steam to download new ones, so I should be fine there? Unfortunately I can't scan it from that copy paste but I'll share with you a link so that you can scan them in the future. This is relativelly easy to set up, but it helps to have the latest "Python for Windows" installed so that you can just double click this script. Basically, you can extract Crash Log Auto-Scanner into a folder on your drive, install Python for Windows and then drop your crash log into that folder and double click the script which generates a scanned crash log. That will have a more readable format for the information from the crash log and give suggestions on remediation including potential mods that could cause issues in your load order. This scanned log file will also have this link at the bottom of it which has more info on troubleshooting specific errors.
