SkyrimSE: DLL Loader & MO2

Good Afternoon,

 

I am having trouble trying to get DLL Loader to work. 
 

Installation for Mo2.

I have Mo2 installed as followed:

• :/Bethesda Mods/MO2

Base Directory(including everything else): 

• :/Bethesda Mods/MO2 - Base Directory - TES V

Manage Game:

• :/SteamGams/steamapps/common/Skyrim Special Edition

 

DLL Loader.

The instructions to install the DLL Loader is by placing the .DLL inside of the SkyrimSE map, but my mods etc are placed inside of the MO2 directory.

Upon launching the game, there should be some sort of DLLPlugins map generated within the SkyrimeSE/Data/ folder and within the .log it should say what Plugins are loaded.

 

Neither one of these actions happen. 

 

.NET script Framework uses DLL Loader, and tried IFPV (Immersive First Person View) to test if it worked but IFPV didn't work.

I'm running the following mods that might be what is causing the issue: 

1. Address Library for SKSE Plugins
2. SSE Engine Fixes (skse64 plugin)

 

I'm out of ideas how I could get DLL Loader to work, does anyone know what I could do to try and fix the issue?

Which version do you run?

 

SKSE for version 1.6.x have disabled the load of plugins files (.dll files) for SKSE.

MO2 (by default) only manages files inside \Data. So when a mod ask you to install it in the Skyrim SE folder, not Skyrim SE\Data, you must do that manually.

 

Now I'm not sure if you're talking about DLL Plugin Loader or Shadowman's DLL Loader, but both loaders have a dll that goes outside of \Data, so either way: it's manual install as per the instructions you can find in their mod pages. You can install any other mods depending on these loaders with MO2, as long as these mods go in \Data.

I am using DLL Plugin Loader: DLL Plugin Loader

Installed outside of /data. It's In the same folder as the SKSE64_1_5_96.dll & SkyrimSE.exe. 

I mentioned  "DLLPlugins" folder inside "/Data" because such folder should be generated upon launching Skyrim.exe (which is missing, however there is a plugins folder outside of /data folder. Location: SkyrimSE/ ).

That's why I'm confused that it isn't working as it should. Since I carefully read the instructions for each mod I download. Which makes me think that something goes wrong between MO2 and the game directory or I messed up somewhere.

I tried creating a Skyrim playthrough where the PC was always in danger of getting enslaved etc.
Basically a harsh Skyrim (sadly some mods doesn't work as expected and bug out after a while).

That folder is inside \Data so it's covered by MO2. This means mods requiring that folder will include it in the file path when you install it in MO2 (example: Net Script Framework comes with a "DLL Plugins" folder and works fine). I haven't seen a plugins folder in Skyrim SE folder, you should verify its content and check what's up with that.

I have no idea what you mean with something going wrong between MO2 and the game directory? MO will generate a virtual \Data folder from all the mods you install with it, and it will use any relevant files found in the game install (like the SKSE dll and exe files, ENB dll and ini files and so on). And it's not that hard TBH so I doubt you have something weird going on.

1. Move the dll from DLL Plugin Loader into your Skyrim SE install as instructed.
2. Create the empty binkw64.log file in the same Skyrim SE folder.
3. Install Net Script Framework or any other mod requiring the DLL Loader through MO2.
4. Launch the game as usual (using the SKSE executable in MO2).
5. Bingo.

 

Of course you need to be on version 1.5.97 of Skyrim SE. I don't think this DLL loader works with AE since that update uses a different bink dll (bink2w64.dll) and Net Script Framework and plenty of other mods haven't updated yet to the latest AE updates. And I'm not sure if file access could be related here, but as usual you shouldn't have your games or mod files in Program Files, desktop folder or any other system created folders. And since there was a recent Windows update that messed with Windows Defender real time protection, you can try disabling it or making exclusion for Skyrim/mods folders and executables. Not something I've experienced TBH so I'm not sure it's the cause of your issue.

Hmmm... strange. 

My SkyrimSE is indeed version 1.5.97.
 

I did the steps you mentioned, but my .log stays empty + IFPV doesn't work - not sure if the program matters, but I open it with Notepad. 

I will verify the game and retry it again, else its something that I can not seem to fix. Game runs fine, it's just the DLL Plugin Loader to run DLL files like Immersive First Person.
Might test out other .DLL mods like the FPSfixplugin (if it's good). 

P.S. this problem started happening couple months ago, so it worked before. I just never fixed it because I don't run many .dll mods and game ran fine.

Seems like even if you use the downgrade patch it still got bugs and conflict with many other old 1.5.97 mods, which is shame that I don't know why and I don't know how to fix. Guess has to wait someone got ideas to fix it.

Conflicts with other mods? What mods?

 

The only way I see a dll injector conflicting with another "mod" is if the proxy library it is using to inject itself has changed in a recent update, and it is not downgraded by the downgrader app. If its messing with anything else then it's not just an injector and I'd put into question its intentions and true purpose. Anyhow, in that case all you'd need to do is find that proxy library and get someone to send you an unupgraded one. I got all the original 1.5.97 files for instance, never updated, never downgraded.

 

The bink dlls are mentioned earlier in this thread, so maybe that's your proxy library. In that case, this is the checksum of a 1.5.97 bink:

If you downgrade to 1.5.97 you also need SKSE for said version, and any mod with a skse plugin (dll file) must be compatible with 1.5.97 and its respective SKSE. Downgrading isn't an automatic and universal fix, you still need to keep in mind which versions you need.
