SLAL SE won't register animations

Hey everyone,

 

I have an issue where I can see all the animation packs in my SLAL MCM, I can enable/disable each animation individually fine, but when I click on register, it tells me 0 animations have been registered even with at least one of the boxes ticked. I then went to register all animations under "general options" and it still tells me that "0 animations have been registered". Yes I have run FNIS and I also have the Creature Pack for FNIS installed. When I click to count animations, it tells me that all of the animations I had enabled are "to be registered" and not "are registered" as it should. I have a papyrus log here along with my load order that might shed some light to someone who can maybe help me. Thanks in advance.

I did enable them when I first setup Sexlab fir the first time.. However I did do a reset on sexlab recently... maybe that unticked the box. I'll take a look when I get home

If they are already registered then SLAL will not re-register them so it says 0 to register.

 

Have you run FNIS and looked at how many animations it says are loaded?

well that's the thing, they're not showing up in sexlab submenu "toggle animations" like they usually should.

as for fnis everything looks fine to me:

Im thinking of doing a clean re-install regarding everything related to SexLab. I have a feeling SLAL or SexLab is the issue, maybe when I installed them some files got corrupted/accidentaly deleted? Im saying this because I installed them manually,  and did so for 7 years now with little to no issues, but maybe i should try using a mod manager.

Yes you should use a mod manager, it makes things so much simpler especially when things go wrong. Your best options at this stage of the game are MO2 or Vortex.

 

FNIS does look okay.

well i use the og nexus mod manager which is now community driven when i download stuff off the nexus, but i rarely put loverslab files in nmm mods folder to then have to restart the mod manager and then install them with it so i just do it myself. but i'll try a clean install of all sexlab related mods. still, thanks for taking your time and helping me out

yes, it doesn't say i have any animations registered. the ones i enabled are under "xxx to register"

try reinstalling jcontainers, and maybe resetting sexlab (one of the top buttons in it's mcm debug menu)

I don't mean to necro an older thread, but this is the only thread I've found that has the same issue as I have, where all animation packs are shown/displayed in the SLAL MCM and while you can "queue" the animations to be registered but they don't actually get registered (see attached photo of Count Animations popup). Sexlab is up and running fully functionally, JContainers is the correct version (SSE) as well as the SLAL animation loader (SSE), and I have run FNIS both before and after attempting to register the SLAL animations. What's even weirder is that half of the 138 creature animations are able to be registered while all 370 humans ones are not... I've tried everything I can think of and this is the only thread that has remotely the same problem. Any clue what could be the problem guys? Or if the OG poster solved it can you please tell me how? Appreciate the reply, I don't normally dabble in Papyrus logs myself so apologies for asking a dumb question but how would I generate a papyrus log manually without a CTD? I've previously only generated them off CTDs myself. My bEnableLogging, bEnableTrace, and bLoadDebugInformation is set to 1 but I'm unsure how to view or post my Papyrus log.

 

Edit: I hadn't turned on debug mode in Sexlab to generate the Papyrus log files. I can now generate the Papyrus logs but can't really decipher the problem from them.

Can you make any sense of the Papyrus log? Cause I don't know what it all means :(Papyrus.0.log I did the registering of animations right at the end, and it seems to be mostly this error:

(Error: Cannot call AddPositionStage() on a None object) 

Any clue what that could mean? Any help would be extremely appreciated!

Papyrus logs have nothing to do with crashes, unless hinted at by an actual crash log.

The reason why SLAL isn't working, is because something has removed or emptied the Slots property of sslAnimationFactory. You probably have P+ installed, it for some reason does stuff like this.

Thanks for your help, I really do appreciate it. My game isn't crashing, its just that I often see the two used in conjunction when talking/googling papyrus logs which is why I brought it up, but thank you for the clarification either way, its good for me to know (y). As for the missing properties and scripts I wouldn't worry too much about it, that is because I was spamming a defunct/missing function spell (slightly out of frustration haha) while the log was running so apologies about that but they wouldn't normally pop up as I play so its not as bad as it looks like in the logs. 

As for the missing or removed sslAnimationFactory Slots property, I do have P+ installed but surely P+ must be compatible with SLAL right? Is there some way I can restore the Slots property of sslAnimationFactory while still using P+? What would I need to reinstall or redownload to resolve it?

Never used P+. As far as I know it was made to extend SexLab, and enhance performance without increasing the Papyrus ops budget. From what I've seen over the years, all it seems to do is remove and/or rename key SL functions breaking essentially everything that interacts with SL. So that leaves 3 options as I see it:

  1. The mod was made for a version of SL that is not commonly used, or doesn't exist anymore.
  2. The mod was just badly made, as in, the mod author didn't consider any mods that they themselves weren't using. Thus breaking compatibility was not an issue.
  3. The people who download it didn't read the mod description or consider the requirements. Perhaps there's a P+ variant of SLAL that you should be using?

Considering the Slots property is baked into the save now, it would have to be something that comes with a script specifically to reassign the property. Alternatively you can install something that reinstates it, and start a new game or use ReSaver to "forget" it. If you're looking for a mod name, then I'm not the one to ask.

And here I have been worried I'm doing rep damage to an amazing mod just because a few people have issues with it.
