How to properly use NPC Makeovers

Recommended Posts

Hello, I've been trying to repopulate my sims world with new sims and makeovers from the game original sims, but I don't know if I'm doing this right.

When I go to change an existing Sim, I need to add the makeover Sim from the gallery and delete the existing one.

Now there is my question, will this be a problem? The Sims will have the job, traits, skills and original purpose like the ones already in the game? Is there another way of doing this without deleting the original Sim?

In my experience, depends on the creator. If the creator didn't change anything like giving them a new career, ending career, or they didn't progress any further, where the sim is at in life, should be at the point they were saved.
For example, I have a spellcaster I shared that is Virtuoso rank and she is also level 10 in the painter career, and also a Proper Celebrity because of said artwork. If someone were to download her, they'd have these perks including where her skills were at when saved. Same with my vampire. Master vampire and a Global Superstar through acting, level 10. So a downloader will have him at that point in his life, including level 10 acting skill, 2 archeology, 10 charisma, 7 comedy, 7 cooking, etc etc.
So, if the creator simply just gave the sim/s a new look and didn't play them in game, or let the game run (even npc sims can acquire new relationship or skills), then the sim/s should be where they are at when starting a new game.

I downloaded a made-over Behr sisters (without cc). Clearly, this creator either let some time pass and/or played Candy. Keep in mind, I also have mods that affect the sims, like MCC (Why Candy is a Flex), one that allows more traits, and of course WW.

If you want your downloaded sims to be at the beginning like when you start a new game, you could always set them that was via cheats or MCC. (Lifespan, career, skills, etc.)

Orrrr... you could give the townies makeovers yourself. :)

I don't think you want 2 Candy & Yuki Behrs is the problem so the best way IMO is just editing the originals.

If you want to add new fancy sims to the game no problem, either drop them into some un-occupied starter lots in Willow Creek or Oasis or merge them with another household.

Best to use another name so you don't have doubles.

I've edited every sim with cc in my game including many random homeless sims and then save them to Gallery/Library with custom content enabled.

Takes quite a long time but when finished you now have all the edited originals in your Library so if/when you start a new save later you can then just merge them into

the same household and delete the original un-edited ones.

@Hanzy Yes, this way, you can also change them exactly the way you want, to fit personal tastes instead of someone else's.
Just play around with it to you either get used it, or to the way you want it. Even if you mess up altering faces and/or bodies (if that's also what you want to do), there's always the ctrl+z option. ?

Once your done with all your editing do a save as 'Master Save' and you can then use this save to start new games with and all the editing is done already.

Just make a new sim and drop into game, or grab one from your Library.

The idea is doing all your edits before actually starting any game play with your sim at least with all the Residents anyway.

However the game will spawn more new random sims anyway so you'd maybe want to edit them too, or choose not to.
