He's not going to release anything. Even if you wanted it for some reason, the only reason he made this post is because FutaMagus is, to be perfectly frank, a drama queen. I wish he'd keep this kind of behavior in SL where it - and he - belongs.

 

I've bumped into him before. I'm not about to reveal my, er, alter ego, but I hope you'll trust me when I say, just forget this thread. It's a troll, nothing more.

I think my intentions are pretty clear in my original post. However, I guess I need to make a post later today to give everyone the 411 in regards to the rise and fall if me as an "open" modder.

 

In regards to second life, I was unaware I made enemies on the grid. I certainly never made money on there. The only thing that comes to mind is me telling someone I was no longer interested on using their set aside land for a shop. I the gave them the linden back that they used to purchase me a demo penis.

You guys are clrly blowing this way out of proportion the OP made it pretty clear that he isn't even finish with it yet even though he never wrote that in his post but it's pretty much there also he did say an erect version is next and I believe he wants to add animation to it as well.

 

Yes he showed his work ofc he did but honestly its the same as when ppl show previews of games or cars or toys in commercials telling us us of what's to come so ofc he wants to see if ppl will like his work so he can have time to decide and do finishing touches.

 

When a modder makes something he will for surely broadcast his work in hopes it is pleasing to the eyes think of it like some closed beta test  then goign to  open beta to alpha it was NOT TO MAKE YOU JEALOUS how did some of you come to those terms is beyond me.

Couldn't agree with this more. I just want to add one thing.

 

Just as a heads up for any one who doesn't know, modders hold there work to the same regard as an artist holds their work. It takes time tweaking and isn't easy. Also, it makes sense doesn't it? its essentially art. So, when some one takes your work, and then tries to sell it without contacting you, or giving you any credit and pawn it off as their own.... I can see why he'd share nothing. He's lost faith in the communitty

Yeah. I can relate. I gave up on sharing anything I made/modified after spending two days on the nexus. People are pretentious and cruel so it's hardly worth it. The people who like your work have a strong sense of entitlement as well as it's shown in this thread.

I think something that pretty much added to this was my complete lack of web presence for the past 72 hours >.> When I last checked this thread on a browser with internet access I only had six replies. Today I was shocked it had gone suddenly up to 2 pages. and suddenly had a bunch of stuff in my in-box. The responses I've been making have been just on my cell.

 

I guess the disconnect for this community, is most people don't know what I've been up to for the past year (also most people don't realize that one of the current skyrim futa mods is based on an oblivion mod I created) - this year I've actually posted a couple of LOL mod screenshots as show offs on another site. There was mild grumblings, but generally people seemed happy that they actually got to SEE something of this nature, and I threw in some videos so I didn't come off as a COMPLETE tease/asshole

 

 

Honestly - I just wanted to share images, pic sets and videos. There USED to be a thread titled "Your Character In Action" where posting these types of images was all that was done.

 

There is a "your Skyrim Counterpart" but it really looks to be (majority anyway) sfw content (even though this is a nsfw forum) I didn't want to step on toes.

 

I'll probably take some time this weekend to finish the erect version and post some shots. The verdict is still out on whether or not I'm going to release these, sorry - I even tagged the post with [showoff] as in currently I'm showing off screens - if there is a better sub-thread for just posting screenshots, direct me that way. I know you can do this on Nexus, but as someone just said above - Nexus is just garbage, and oh my lord, I don't need to be reminded by 100+ people that not everyone likes futanari/shemale/penzorzzeses

 

However, someone making a similar mod has poked me via a messenger, and I'm going to see if I can reach a compromise with them.

I mentioned this in my Private Message to you, but I think you are being a tad overprotective of your work here. The Skyrim mod community is very respective of other people's work, especially LL. This community in particular is big on sharing, and it's not surprising you caught some flak for showing off the mod without promising or providing it. (I've been lurking for a while, you see.) I ask that you reconsider, in almost every case, the original author is always contacted before any sort of redistribution is done.

The show your Skyrim counterpart is alive, and well, in the general Skyrim forum.  Had you posted it there, I don't think anyone would be upset.  But this is, if you haven't noticed, the mods forum, where people come to see and download mods.  Or plan them, or work on new ones, if they aren't ready for release, all with the explicit intent of sharing their work.  If you don't intend to share something you're working on, don't make posts about it in a community totally devoted to this concept.  Just make your stuff, be happy with it, and don't antagonize others with this nya-ha-ha-ha look what I've got crap.

 

Or, if you're that proud of your work, at least post about it somewhere that isn't the place people go to get mods of this nature.  Everyone who comes to the mods subforums, does so with the expectation that the authors intend to share their work - this is the entire point of this forum, and you know it.

The topic does say [showoff], so it was pretty blatant showing off, but I don't think he realized just how starved the LL community is for futa mods. I'm inclined to believe he really didn't think the response would be this large. There's only a couple I know of and neither of them are anywhere near this size. This is most definitely my cup of tea and I sincerely hope futamagus changes his mind.

 

I know from experience when I tried to release a small compilation package back in the Oblivion days that the modder community is very protective about redistribution (even overly so). I don't think futamagus has anything to fear by releasing his mod here.

It seems like you're trying to use this thread as a soapbox for the problems in the overall community rather than the topic at hand. I never said anything about the 'general Skyrim modding community being respectful.' No one did. But for all its faults, the modding community throws a collective fit whenever any work is stolen. People go out of their way to not redistribute, often times to the point of incredible inconvenience.

 

Nexus to Workshop copying might be a problem, I've honestly never looked at that before because I've never really used the Workshop - but you're obviously not going to see porn mods on there, so that makes it moot for this conversation. I do not think futamagus is risking much by sharing his new mod, the chances of it getting stolen are fairly low, especially with all the attention it's gotten already.

Doesn't look like you were talking about just LL or the "adult modding" community and I'm pretty sure I'm still on topic with this because even here at LL we have enough lurkers downloading mods and maybe reuploading (which is in no way a problem in itself if it isn't someone claiming others' work as his own or trying to make money off of it) them somewhere else, hell even one of the modders that post almost all their mods exclusively here had some their work stolen and uploaded on the Workshop and the possibility that it won't just be limited to SFW mods is there.

 

You are right however that the adult modders aren't risking much atleast for now as there is no big platform for uploading adult mods without anyone noticing it's not the work of the uploader.

 

Should every author throw a hissy fit now and stop uploading their stuff? Not really but constantly reminding someone how much of a teasing douchebag he is for not releasing something is kinda counterproductive when you try to convince a modder and can get almost as frustrating as having their work stolen. In the end most of the "inconvenience" is on your side as the mod author doesn't really have to go out of his way to not release his work.

I was speaking of the Skyrim modding community, but only about a specific topic - redistribution. You brought up broader problems with the community that aren't related to that topic. I didn't say anything about the Skyrim modding community being respectful, just that everyone gets up in arms when work is stolen or perceived to be stolen. And that's the truth, I've seen it plenty of times before.

 

But, as I said previously, I was not aware there were Workshop thieves, but that is irrelevant considering adult mods aren't allowed on the Workshop anyway.

Honestly, the work is incredible. It's too good just to show off. And therein lies the issue. What is the purpose of showing work you're doing, if you aren't going to make it available? Why aren't you going to? I see no practical reason or rational motive to withhold this epic work from the rest. Admittedly, I'd have to agree with those who stated it feels like a "Nya-ha-ha! I can make this great shit and you can't have it!" sort of move. It's great stuff. There's clearly huge demand. So why isn't it being delivered? Because of some personal feelings? I can't see how a few people making asinine comments is worth neglecting the rest of the community.
Or any reason, really, for saying, "I'm going to work on some more of this, and I'll post a few pics later on. But I can't make it available because I'm working on other stuff. Don't worry, though, I'll make sure I get this work done for pics, just not downloads." This is clearly some great talent, which could be shared with admirers, so why is that not the case? It's one thing if you're a 2D artist who is uploading your work, because they're just images overall. Posting images of images online is how you share an image. But this, this is a mod that can actually be used for aesthetics in a game people love, but you're just showing us pics of it and not sharing the mod itself. You don't sell catalogues when you have a product you want people to enjoy/admire with the intent of never actually selling the product.
And I think that's where most of the irritation is coming from. People went to a restaurant, were handed a menu, but were told nothing was actually for sale.
