NPC's Frozen in Battle. Path-grid Issue?

I have a strange glitch. My NPC's path-grids seem to "DISAPPEAR" every time I enter a battle. As in all AI objects twitch in place &, when "Close" enough, will vainly swing at one another. I recently downloaded Break Undies armors, but deactivating these has no effect on the characters glitchs. Vilja, my girl, works perfectly fine while exploring but once an enemy spots me, both she & all near by creatures stop moving. I first noticed this in an oblivion gate after leaving the testinghall to nab some modded armor (BU Compilation pack by gregathit.) I just reinstalled everything. No love.

All up to date: I have the latest official patch, I use OBMM, NMM, and, recently, Wrye Bash. (I have not Bashed anything, so if someone could also give me tips on what could benefit from a Bashing, please speak up. :) (The lovers mods are in correct order. No problem there, I erased their plugin names for the more conservative forums I've posted on.)

I think you need to double check some of readme.txt files to make sure you really can use things like the below together:

RedBag - Dangerous Animals.esp
RedBag - Friendly Animals.esp

Getting the idea?  Some of these "may" be usable with others but many I think you were supposed to choose one or the other.

 

I also STRONGLY recommend you learn how to make a bashed patch.  None of the vwalk stuff should be enabled but rather merged into a bashed patch.  While it won't kill you to have them enabled, it does help stabilize things when you do have one.

 

I also recommend you dump CM Partners.esp and use a combo of MCS (mad companionship spells) and From2chanlives (which adds upwards of 200+ NPC's wandering around that you can partner up with if you choose).  Of course this would require that you install both MBP and MBP++ (which means using a bashed patch).

 

Another item I recommend is dumping things like:

Purge Cell Buffers - Cell Change.esp
Purge Cell Buffers - Loading.esp

and instead installing Streamline 3.1 and OSR (oblivion stutter remover).

 

Normally "addons" should be under what they are adding on to:

Silverlight Armor Addon by Xcytress.esp
Silverlight Armor by Jojjo.esp

Check what the readme.txt has to say about load order (if anything).

 

Finally, you should look into using Tes4gecko to combine your armor\clothing mods and perhaps even these:

Seems silly to have horse mods taking up 6 esp slots.  I am guessing you could combine these into one.

Yeah. That makes sense. I haven't had to deal with large amounts of mods before. Though I feel a little blind sighted about your first point. The read me's never specified picking one or the other, though I may have figured out to use only one before I reinstalled & just don't recall. Thank you for the help.

EDIT: Fixed redundant .esps & things. Worked with Wrye Bash. (Not much
luck there, but I highly doubt it's conflicting with my game. It's too
recent a problem.) It's unrelenting. No good news.

EDIT: I've been continually digging around with this glitch. I have made no
progress what so ever. Could it be caused by use of the console? I'm
getting quite desperate, it's not an enjoyable experience when your
enemies wait for you to kill them...

Wrong.  Targeting anything removes its collision.  When you use it, you need to hit the console and click a few places if necessary, to make SURE nothing is targeted, THEN use the TCL command and it will only then effect the PC (enabling them to move through walls, floors and even fly).

 

I wonder if you didn't accidentally type tai (toggle ai) which if there was no target it would shut off all close NPC's ai's.

But an un-targeted use of TAI isn't stored in the savegame, it will be reset upon quitting and relaunching the game. A targeted TAI however is being saved.

Actors with their AI switched off will be frozen in place upon loading the game, sometimes causing weirdness.

 

I don't think this glitch is actually a pathgridding problem at all but rather some kind of conflict which is messing up the combat AI. Since I have no experience with all those fancy Francesco mods and other stuff you have installed, I can't say much about their conflict potential. Nevertheless one (or more) mod(s) in your load order seem to override the game's combat AI and seem to prevent proper execution of combat routines. Fighting actors 'vainly swinging at each other' without causing damage is a surefire symptom for deactivated AI.

 

The only real way to find out the culprit would be to switch off plugins one by one and test if the problem persists, at least the ones which deal with combat (meaning you can omit equipment and beautification mods and such).

 

It's also recommended to get the unofficial patches for Oblivion and SI. You can drop the 'KT Custom Race Fix' then because the 'Unofficial Oblivion Patch' contains this fix as well, together with many other helpful fixes.
