Changing races

There are probably more ways to do this, but here's two:

Method 1 (probably easier): Take the textures from the Mojave Delight folders and replace the textures in the textures/characters folder. This is somewhat the brute force method.

Method 2: Open FNVEdit and check out the MD plugin. Select the Race you want to replace your vanilla race with and check the texture paths. Now go back to the Vanilla race and change the corresponding texture path to the path of the MD textures. This method is more elegant, as you can mix and match or give dfifferent races different looks. This will work for meshes as well, so you might be able to give one race a particular body.

But be careful, some vanilla faces look straight up weird, if you apply the MD textures to them. The FaceGen color settings are "optimized" for use with vanilla or vanila-like textures.

Is there a way to fix that? I don't want to go through the work of using the improved textures to make everyone in the Mojave look worse instead of better.

I'm not sure if that is possible in a general way. You could however check how characters turn out with the GECK. Change bKeepHeadOnRaceChange to 1 in your geckcustom.ini and load Mojave Delight. You can now open some NPCs and change their race to whatever MD race you want and see how they'd turn out.
