Decided to try this out instead of the standard bone-weight copy script and having some issues. When I try to use it Blender goes into "not responding" and starts using up huge amounts of RAM.

I just sat down and coded an update to my vertex search engine.

I'd like to do a test run using the Boneweight copy script as a guinea pig.

Are there any volunteers out there who would like to give the Boneweight Copy Script 3.0 (beta) a trial run?

I didn't notice that this Modders Resource section had new posts.

3.0 beta is cool, because it has finally solved the vertex weight mirroring issue.

This script is genius! Thank you so much, copying bone weights from one mesh to another was always a nightmare because of how it would override existing vertex groups...and if you wanted to keep those groups and add extra weights to the same area..ugh, so much re-painting would have to be done by hand.

Thanks again, excellent script and it works flawlessly for me.

Thanks for the kind words.  It's always great to get feedback, even better when thing are working well.

I've also ported much of the functionality of my Blender boneweight copy script to a new tool, Mesh Rigger, that is entirely independent of Blender.  It's not nearly as flexible as my Blender script, but it has the ability to process an entire folder of files at a time.  It can be used to, for example, add a single new bone to an entire clothing collection with just a couple of quick clicks, or even re-rig a nif from scratch.
