Well. Just over a year and just over 20,000 listed downloads since I released that first pack of head replacements with some armored versions of the Bikini Cyborg tossed in simply because how I liked how it looked with them. I intended at the time for the heads to be the main point of this mod. The bodies were only supposed to be a bonus.

 

I kinda let that get well and truly away from me, didn't I?

 

Probably ought to find some new things to do for the heads before too long, seeing how they can be a nice compliment to this robotic body theme, but first I've got to finish hammering out the parts for said bodies. My latest problem as far as those go has been finishing the tweaks on the Gynoid-type spine/pelvis module, and particularly the version meant to work with the Edhildil leg caps and the Beast legs.

Most of the tweaks have been small things; adding those pipes up top to connect to the central arch component in the upper torsos, smoothing out the imported weight-painting here and there to minimize distortion (actually still need to go in and do some more of that on the second ring, found some more there in certain poses). The big bear here has been clipping around the hip joints. Removing the thigh weighting on the Gynoid hip caps stopped them from distorting in movement, but without that flex the version of the adaptors directly copied from the -BAF- set clipped right through the front of them in the Vanilla crouching pose. My first thought was to just replace them with the version for the Edhildil pelvis, but those rise up higher and break through the top of the pelvic piece I built here. My second thought was to just shrink the joint spheres, but having them pretty much any smaller than this looks terrible. I eventually settled on moving them back from the leg's centerline enough that they only just barely clip through a bit at the front as the character moves. Looks slightly odd from the side, but it works well enough. Except that it exposed the gaps in the leg caps enough that I needed to build some new filler for them, and that I spent forever completely failing to find a way to integrate the carried-over joint filler pieces from the Bikini version's pelvis that resisted clipping without looking terrible. The Ballista's spindle provided for both of those, and while I'm not completely happy with the results it's at least functional.

Since I only had a kinda weird block of time free yesterday for various reasons, I decided I might as well toss together a new tester character specifically for these robot bodies, and saved a lot of time by modifying the head I built for my last normal character before I got sucked down this whole rabbit hole. So, meet our new spokesmodel, N9-03.

For now, she is a cat. For now, she is also... flat.

You might've gotten the impression from all the other stuff I've been doing that I'm some kind of a tit fiend. Well, I am. But I also have deep appreciation for androgynes, and wanted to get some un-busty options into this set, given that it's use of entirely pre-built body parts would allow me to be more flexible than the constraints of working with BodySlide had been in that regard. Deciding to use modular parts also made the whole idea of having multiple types of chest much more workable, and the Centurion chest door model from Clockwork's resources was the obvious thing to start with.

Of course, I'm not entirely satisfied with this, either. I would've liked it to be larger, but any wider than this and it starts running into the arms something awful, and any taller and it starts jamming into the Gynoid pelvis' stomach. To that latter point, this piece is specifically what I had in mind when I mentioned that chest parts that conflicted with the Gynoid pelvis would have to change. I had started work on this first, and had built it on the Bikini spine with a different angle on the chest piece, and sure enough when I got around to loading it with the Gynoid pelvis the bottom of it clipped right through. So it got adjusted around that, and a back plate made from a modified Sphere lid tossed on simply because it felt unbalanced without something back there. The end result still feels a bit small, but ehhhhh... It works.

Of course, with her kitted out with the claw hands, the only thing to do was to have her dual-wielding the invisible daggers, which leads to some glorious little bits of violence:

I also had one other reason for wanting to make a dedicated tester character for these robot bodies. Y'see, @-Caden-'s Doppleganger Follower mod happened to come out while I was starting work on this stuff, and since I've got both the 'preserved head' parts from the most recent release and all those replacement heads that I started all this with, well... 

 

It's obvious, isn't it?
