Biased
Last Sunday, our city soccer team played another important match against Hajduk from Split. Antonio asked my luvs if they wanted to earn extra money by joining the stadium as security guards. It was less well-paid than a bodyguarding job, but the salary was decent … Anyway, my luvs rejected the job. Being asked why they responded:
- It’s a waste of time since we aren’t allowed to shoot or hurt offenders.
Antonio laughed hard like my Fran when he heard about it. His comment was: “Aren’t they something? You must love those savages … I am a million times sure Prince would never be like that if long-legged witch didn’t bewitch him.”
Anyway, our family gathered for the match in our house, and they celebrated loudly when our team won 1:0. Where we were during that time? On our beach, of course, with our children. This time even I could swim in the sea since it wasn’t cold that much.
We “recruited” the first group of seasonal workers. There will be 3 or four groups more as the season develops. So far, we hired 20 of them. I loved it when my Prince addressed them with a warning on the first official meeting. He said:
- I want you to learn and memorize our rules and bylaws. Read them whenever you can until you do because we won’t accept any excuse if you break them. Now, you probably noticed we have foreign employees. Do not worry, they won’t mess with you, but if you mess with them on any level, like national, religious, race, or color level, and god forbid you physically attack them, you will be momentarily suspended. But before we suspend you, I promise you, my wife and I will hurt you so badly that you will have to pick a credit to cover your hospital bills … Any questions?
(Short silence)
One male seasonal worker: Excuse me, Sir, would you mind telling us why you and your wife are called the Nazi couple?
Prince: Disobey our rules and try to harm other workers, especially foreign ones, and you will surely find out.
Then the meeting was over and they were assigned to their duties.
Our chief of maintenance came to Lidija’s office bringing a big can of Ukrainian pork meat. He said Vladimir gave it to him wanting to share his food with him since they brought a lot from Ukraine. He told her in confidence that although the date of usage is far from expiring, he is a little afraid to eat it since the food comes from the war zone and he isn’t sure if it was spoiled, poisoned, or similar. Nobody wanted to take it because of the same reason. When she asked him why he brought the can to her, he said he never threw food and he came to ask her if she wanted it or if she knew someone who would take it. Lidija thanked him, took the can, and brought it to my office. My Fran and I were also suspicious and we said we wouldn’t take it, but my luvs took it when they came to my office later. My Prince said he would make a nice meal out of it. I said I surely wouldn’t eat it. Anyway, when we arrived home, and after doing some chores, my parents, the children and I had to leave the house because of the bad smell from the kitchen. But when my luvs called us to come for supper, we sensed a very nice food aroma. He used that pork and pasta. The way he prepared it was unbelievable (the recipe from his father), and it tasted fantastic. We were very thrilled and we didn’t have stomach aches afterward nor felt a stomach heaviness. We all commended his cooking skills.
Malicija was very curious why my Prince doesn’t like animals, especially dogs, although she knows the story very well. She asked him that in my office during the break yesterday:
- I know you are allergic to the dog’s and cat’s fur, but is that the only reason for not loving the dogs? If you have no true reason for that, you are not fair toward them and you have to reconsider your attitude about them.
Prince: Let me ask you, something. I know you don’t like gypsies, Albanians, Muslims, and people in general. Why is my dislike of dogs worse than yours disliking of people? Don’t you think you misplaced dogs for humans?
Malicija was silent for a moment and after deep thinking, she said:
- You’re right. I was biased and I apologize.
Since there are political pre-election campaigns in our city these days, my luvs will be working the whole day tomorrow and earning a lot of money. Sorry, can’t tell you whom they will protect.
