Oh, it was a crazy year! Sun spot activity was during a solar minimum, volcanic activity was at a maximum, and things just got really cold for a few years with 1816 being the worst. Massive crop failings led to massive starvation. It probably felt a lot like the end of the world. Law and order were disrupted with riots. And, you can imagine the folk beliefs driving the stories as to why the skies were darker and the days colder. I'm sure most everyone linked the reasons for the endless winter to morals to be learned; probably having some human behaviors tied to it, anthropomorphizing their climate. Not to suggest we'd be guilty of that, during our own times, but it is interesting.

ROFL!!! Well I did live in Colorado Springs so I am not really "fooled". I also lived in Wisconsin for 2 years' date=' and man, their winters are even worse (in terms of cold, snow and that damn blowing wind). You adapt to it like anything else.

It really rustles my jimmies when I hear theories like this: when people bring in race and religion to the table. Trained by islamic terrorists? I highly doubt it. There's no evidence suggesting that he was working for a terrorist group. As for rigging traps, he could have found the knowledge on the internet.
