New to Fallout 4, requesting advice.

So, i've been here before picking up mods like crazy for Skyrim (naturally, most of them are NSFW), but i havent tried Fallout 4 yet. Also, its been a long time since i did anything with skyrim, so my memory of installing mods sucks. But i think the method of installing mods might be different on Fallout 4, but that's not important. I can ask google how to install mods. As for why i'm here, i'm looking for advice on what the most widely used Nude mod is for Fallout 4. Meaning which nude mod has the most sexy armor mods on it. I'm assuming CBBE, but the only one i can find is "Glorious Nude CBBE compatible", which tells me its compatible with CBBE. I cant seem to locate CBBE's nude mod.

Furthermore, as its been a long time since i played around with Skyrim mods, what other mods are suggested to enhance the female character's sex appeal? naturally, i need to get FNIS back, but i dont know what its called for Fallout 4. I guess i'll google it. Are there any mods that adds hairstyles? sexier faces? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I havent even installed the game yet, but i want to have all the awesomeness set up ahead of time.

First: use a mod manager.

Also if FO4 has an internal mod manager it is really rudimentary and not good.

NMM for FO4 is mature, MO is a little bit problematic (but works.)

CBBE is THE body right now.

And you can find here and on Nexus and on other sites a bunch of Armors that use it.

The + sign next to the mod says it is active, - means it is in the mod list but not active, this is from mod organiser 2 of course found here, https://github.com/TanninOne/modorganizer/releases

Bodymeshes are my custom bodyslde meshes for all the armour mods installed, default stuff is where all my customised eps are, gas mask replacers and such like that.

OK I'll try to give some initial advice.

First as you say you are rusty in modding I'll give some initial advice (or repeat some that have been said above):

  - Save your game (this is a classic but one few people follow, if you don;t at least know how to "check game integrity in steam": google it)

  - Use a mod manager (and no what Bethesda offer is not a good one, plus as you want sexy stuff it would be problematic) Nexus Mod Manager is your best bet right now (I prefer Mod Organizer but it is nowhere close to general use right now). NMM is here: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/modmanager/?

  - disable steam auto-update of the game you mod:

     - on steam: right click on Fallout 4 and select Properties (at the bottom of the menu)

     - Go to Update tab on the window that appeared

     - In the drop down below "Automatic updates" pick "Only update this game when I launch it"

     - close the window

 - never ever launch Fallout 4 from steam again after that

      - NMM has a nice launch button for that

      - the choice above said "when I launch the game" meaning that if you launch via steam ("I") it will update (and this may be an issue later on)

      - even with this sometime steam sneakily change the setting on update (at least some people claim it does , never happened to me) so regularly repeat the "auto update above)

 - Always do things one mod at a time, until we have something like STEP on skyrim persons recommending you a load order are not to be trusted (ate least I am not) and your mileage may vary so try to do things slow so if something goes wrong you will know which addition was at fault

get LOOT:

some  info here :http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/5310/?

dependencies between mod plugins can be a mess and LOOT will help you solve that via the click of a button.

Now we can get started and go explore nexus to find mod for you.

  - the first and which should be on any load order is UFO4P: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4598/?

Then you said you want a body and CBBE is where it's at right now (there are few other bodies but none with the same amount of support). Get it here:

Note: CBBE uses its own texture so if you do not want glitches keep that i mind and only use outfits and textures that support CBBE

Lets be equalitarian and allow male to show their naughty bits to.

  - EVB got you covered: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7059/? (downlod one of the male versions as CBBE already does female)

  - There's alternatively Super Heroes Body (thast is very similar to CBBe in the sense that it can be configured via bodyslide): http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10360/?

I never used it and as most male outfits are for vanilla right now I would stick with just EVB, , although the mod author provide a tutorial to make new outfits compatible if you feel like working on it)

Now you may want to tweak that body a ,little so you will need some extra stuff:

First obvious one is BodySlide: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/25/? (if you are new to BS -- ie you did not use it in Skyrim -- I strongly advise to look at the video, not very advanced but it is good as it will give you an idea on how to use it)

Every time you had a new outfit (or update CBBE body and its port of vanilla outfit) you need to run Bodyslide so it generate the outfits for your body preset. You can also find a lot of body preset on Nexus if the CBBE default ones do not make it for you (the one I like right now is Josie Body: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/15734/?)

Now for things a little more advanced (and probably necessary in the future)

Lets allow a better configuration of your PC and install LooksMenu (the successor of RaceMenu from skyrim).

  - For this you will need to install f4se: http://f4se.silverlock.org/ (first link, current version is 0.2.4 for Fallout 4 1.7.12)

From now on you will always launch f4se instead of fallout4 (again NMM should allow you to do that easily)

This ii the reason why I told above to disable steam auto update (f4se is tied to fallout version and whiel the authors do their best to remai nup to date we had stealth updates recently that took them time to fix)

Now that you have this you can install LooksMenu: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12631/?

because you probably want plenty of new outfits for your body you may want to install too these 2 mods (which is used by many outfit or weapon mods):
 - AWKCR: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/6091/?

 - Armorsmith Extended: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2228/?

The latter provides a way to craft many outfits and weapons and often outfits/items mods rely on it

This what I consider a very limited but sane base for further modding.

After that you can look for outfit mods. The only large outfit replacement mod I know of it 2Pac's (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7718), it covers only base game outfit and is a little outdated (its bodyslide files are not supporting latest slides such as 7Base) but ti will make the commonwealth more skinpy

Then you have many non replacer outfits on nexus, just make sure that the one you download are: 1) for CBBE, 2) ideally fully support Bodyslide

You can find them via:

  - the armor category: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/searchresults/?src_cat=5

  - or the clothing category:http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/searchresults/?src_cat=9

There's also few of them in the download section of this forum we are on (either in the adult or non adult section)

Another one that improves game play is Full dialog interface: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1235/? falloout 4 did change the way dialog work and show only some "short/obscure" choice on what your PC gonna say, this mod corrects that

After that there are plenty of other mods you can put on to improve UI, graphics (yeah ENB/SweetFX are still a thing), ... but the list would be too long. This I believe would give you a good simple base to let your modding goes wherever you please while starting with an experience very close to the original game.

oh, goodie, responses. I was afraid i wouldnt get any. Anyway, regarding the mod manager, i've never really used it for Skyrim, i've always manually installed the mods by dropping them in the proper folders. I'm guessing we cant do that with Fallout 4? actually, does using the NMM prevent mod conflicts? When i was playing Skyrim, i would play it to the point that i'd have like 200 armor mods and my game would get to the point that my game would crash at random intervals. I was assuming the fault lied within my mods. And although armor mods werent my only mods, they were the majority. So i got to the point, i spent like a month or 2 combining all of my armor mods into 1 freakin Esp. I can assure you, that was a long as hell process. it's not a freakin huge file, but it does have a freakin huge list of armors in it.

Anyway, long story short, would using NMM prevent my game from crashing at random intervals if i got up to around 200 different armors?

Edit after reading Frel's post: I have already picked up CBBE, armorsmith extended, and AWKCR (because the Harnass mod told me to get them). I'll have to pick up LOOT. My next question, is there a FNIS mod for Fallout 4 anywhere? I needed it on Skyrim for something, i cant remember what it was, so i'm sure i'm going to need it for Fallout 4. It was used for NSFW mods on skyrim. That much i know.

As for the F4SE thing, is that the Fallout4 version of Skyrim's SKSE? i used that to launch skyrim because it was necessary for some of the advanced mods to work.

Anyway, my first goal will be to get NMM. I'll work on the rest in due time. I'm going slow at this.

Link to comment

No there is not a half of 200 armors for CBBE and NMM do not affect armors or body. It all handled by BodySlide and building body and armors in this tool is simple with one click. So do not be afraid try and see. Or just remember Master Yoda - "Do it or do not, there is no try"!

No FNIS on Fallout, CK did improve a little the support for importing animations but more importantly ,modder still try to figure out how to properly import animations in Fallout 4 (there was some great progress recently though and you can see it on the thread dedicated to it in the General section). So nothing like FNIS in Fallout yet (and maybe ever, but I am no expert)

Yes F4SE is the same thing as SKSE: F4SE=Fallout 4 Script Extender, SKSE=SKyrim Script Extender

That being said F4se is also still at an early stage and probably won't progress too much until the last DLC is released (this month) so far it just ofgfer basic functionalities that very few mods use (LooksMenu being on of those few), but if it is anything like skyrim it will become a vital component of modding.

All in all we are still at an early stage (especially compared to the monster of modding that Skyrim became), it is also often the case that modding can really kick in when the game finally left out by the developer (less updates/DLC -> less for the modder to have to worry about in term of future compatibility). We will see if it is the case for this game.

Edit: also you still can add mods manually in Fallout (approach is very simialr to Skyrim), that does not mean you should ;) or if you do do not come back complaining :P

One thing to know of when installing mods is that in some cases you will get a CTD during load up. Nine times out of 10 is is usually a load order problem, This is where LOOT comes in real handy. One tip I can offer regarding NMM deals with the profile box up top. Once you have a whole bunch of mods running, it enables you to save a load order. It's like a restore point.  LOOT can set up the load order for you, but even then you might install something that will nerf up your game. As Frel posted, it's a good idea to load your mods one at a time. In my game right now I have 168 active plugins, mostly cosmetic items. At one point I had over 200, and my load time got slower and slower to the point where I hit the wall.  For some reason there are still mods that I cannot  enable without getting a CTD. So untill I figure out why I get a CTD, I leave them turned off.

update: So i got around to installing NMM, and i have a question. I was told to launch with NMM, but when i played Skyrim, i always launched the game with its Script Extender (SKSE), does this mean when i get F4SE, i'll be using it to launch the game and not NMM? or is there some other way to use F4SE? I was used to launching Skyrim with SKSE, so i dont know if there's anything different with Fallout 4. So far i've got everything installed that Frel suggested. I'm just a little confused on if i'm suppose to install F4SE through NMM. It doesnt give me an option to.

NMM will automatically detect that F4SE is installed (if I recall properly, as I use MO) and will change the launch Fallout with F4SE (this will be clearly displayed)

Otherwise you can just launch F4SE (as NMM does modify the data directory directly as opposed to MO).

The main thing is to not start fallout directly from steam

I would suggest using Mod Organizer since I myself see it as a vastly superior alternative to NMM. Keeps your whole Directory clean of mods and uses a virtual install folder. :)

Also, you should download F4SE and use it via a launcher option on NMM or MO. Most outstanding mods like Looksmenu and Place use it.

I would agree with you but Mod Organizer is still in beta stage and while it works well for me (and I assume you) it took some experimenting to get it right (for example having Bodyslide woirking was a pain initially) and even now I have few situations where things do not load perfectly and would not rule out MO virtual file system to be at fault.

NMM has its flaws but right now it remains the only mod manager that is considered stable for fallout 4.

So i got the mods using NMM, then started up the game, got to the point where i can get the pippy thing. Apparantly the CBBE mod isnt working. I closed it down to relaunch NMM to see if i did something wrong. I still got the 'missing game.ini file' message error. Last time i got it, it told me to launch the game to generate the file. Which i did. Still got the error. This time it gave me a link to go to which gives me a step by step instruction guide. I followed the game.ini instruction portion to create the file, and put those 3 lines in it. Then saved it into the "Documents/My Games/Fallout4" folder. Launched the game again. I got a message about the existance of mods. I thought that was good. When i got in, my character was still wearing undergarments. So CBBE hasnt loaded. Is there something i'm missing? I even thought re-equipping the clothing and unequipping it would be enough. I noticed in the In-Game menu, there's an option to load mods. Do i have to log into Bethesda.Net to use mods? i thought i only needed to use NMM.

Edit: Wait a minute, hold that thought. I completely forgot that you have to activate mods.. Dam its been so long since i played Skyrim. I feel like one of those dumbasses who calls a help support to figure out why a TV wont work only to find out its not plugged in. Hold on, lemme try activating the mods and trying again.

Edit 2: Ok, nevermind. Mods are working now. But how do i work the bodyslider? When i try to change my character's appearance, there's nothing in the slider options. Also, i cant seem to figure out how to craft any of the modded armors. I think i need to use the AWKCR bench, but i cant seem to find one. I've found some crafting stations here and there, but i havent found the AWKCR crafting bench. So far i've only reached the point where i helped out some people in Concord being attacked by raiders and they sent me to get the core from behind a locked gate for the power suit. Anyone have any information as to where the AWKCR bench is?

I've found some crafting stations here and there, but i havent found the AWKCR crafting bench. So far i've only reached the point where i helped out some people in Concord being attacked by raiders and they sent me to get the core from behind a locked gate for the power suit. Anyone have any information as to where the AWKCR bench is?

To understand how to use bodyslide I recommend you watch this video tutorial from Gopher:

For the Armorsmith Extended workbenches you'll have to "work for it" there's no workbench from this mod by default and you will have to build them in a settlement. They also require some minimum level in your perks (armor related workbench need Armorer 1 (which is the perk at strength 3 so if your strength is below this you will also need to level it up) the workbench related to this is (called Armorsmith workbench).

alternatively you can always use the console to either spawn the armor you want (via search and player.additem commands) or the workbench itself (never did that myself)

Thanks for the reply. I did manage to find it not long after posting my question though. I saw the Armorsmith Workbench early on, got confused with the "Armorer Workbench and the Armorsmith Workbench". Same with Weapon and Weaponsmith. I'm assuming the Armorsmith and Weaponsmith is the mod. Anyway, i lacked the materials at the start to make the workbench, but i wanted to ask about the workbench just incase there was something else i needed to do. Of course while i was waiting for the reply, i was still piddling around town trying to find more screws.

Anyway, i think i got the hang of the game now. Though i'm still wandering around town trying to fully understand how this settlement thing works. I got 2 new settlers in, havent gotten any new ones in since then. Wondering if its based on story progression. Cant be max cap since my little bar on the right end is only like 60% full (i'm assuming that's pop limit), and i heard that your popcap was at least 10. Right now i have 6 people in sanctuary (I moved one of the settlers to truck stop, though i'm wondering if i was too early with that).

Also, is it possible to convert some armor mods from Skyrim to Fallout 4? Like i said in an earlier post, i have like 200 mods that i've collected in Skyrim and it'd be awesome if i can somehow convert them over to Fallout 4.

The 60% is the build size, ie how much stuff you can build there, turrets, buildings, plants etc.  Basically when you open the build panel of the settlement workshop, anything in there adds to that value some things do not increase it much others can add quite a chunk to it, different settlements have different values for that cap as well.  There are ways of cheating the cap though.

You will need to build and power a settlement recruitment beacon from the power, misc category to get more settlers at any settlement, and you will need 1 beacon for each settlement you want to get more bodies in.  Though if you have it Vault 88 has one pre-built

Population cap is based on your charisma and something else, not sure myself as I tend to stop recruting after 20 people at the settlement, though some can go much bigger.  Vault 88 for me currently has nearly 30 people there.

Even with a beacon though too many settlers showing as unassigned will stop more arriving.

If you have not done much with the truck shop it may well be worth sending them back to sanctuary, as you can then just build some water sources and leave it alone which will add purified water to its workshop over time, its the settlers being present that can cause potential npc attacks as well.
