So starting location somewhere neutral (like the cell in skyrim). You pick your start choice from a computer list, each with a nice description/background story. Then your char gets into the chair:

- and could "wake up" anywhere in the commonwealth, as a member of a any faction

- in a synth production lab

- as suggested, in another chair somewhere, with no idea which reality is real (this could even be done many times, with some normal surroundings and some surreal/disturbing settings. Just to make it even more confusing.

 

The possibilities are enticing So many ways the game could be played, can't wait.

I do admit, the idea of using the memory den (or a hidden copy of it) to rewrite people carefully in your bid to take over the Commonwealth as the badguy has some appeal. Yeah, you might have been a soldier in the fierce fighting in Alaska, but you are a sociopath that was trying to blend into society so that you weren't... adjusted. Or you were a ruthless lawyer, planning a political career that would eventually put you on top of everyone.

 

And then the Last War happened. Your spouse was killed, your kid taken. And you snapped and decided that you needed to make this world yours.

 

Probably a bit too grand and epic for me to ever to do.

Theoretically, there are tons of things you could do with the Memory Den chairs. The chair itself basically works like a door to transport you to either an indoor space or new world space.

 

For example, you could do an "inception" inspired thing where you place a settler or slave into one chair and you get into the other. You can make the chair transport you anywhere you want depending on the type of mod you are looking to make. So you could, for example, enter an inescapable sex dungeon space with the goal to break this character's will and become a willing slave.

 

Or you could create any variety of fantasy world with anything you want in it. Virtual brothels, sex-based mini-games, etc.
