Computer died, Scratch Restart

Recommended Posts

/sigh. Bad news for me was my computer died and I lost everything. The good news is that now I have a new one but I need some advice. If someone could look over my outline of what needs to be installed in the best order, I'd really appreciate it as I have a few questions.

So far with a Win7 64bit new PC I have installed as follows:

Installed Disk 1 of Oblivion GotY Edition (said not need to apply any Official patches because it is already 1.2.0416)

Installed Disk 2 (for SI and Knights expansions) which I take is the "Official Add-ons" mentioned in the next step: "Install all Official Add-ons"

Installed the Unofficial Oblivion Patch (user-made mod) from here

http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=5296'>http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=5296

Installed the Unofficial Official Mods Patch (user-made mod) from here

http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9969

Installed the Official Construction Set 1.2.404 from here

http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=11367

Installed OBMM 1.1.12 from here

http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=2097

Made sure BSA Redirection was checked in Archive Validation

Ran the game, created a character bopped around tutorial fine then

Installed OBSE 0020 from here

http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=37952 then ran Oblivion from the OBSE Loader.exe

Game ran fine, saved/continued

Installed BOSS from here:

http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=20516

Ran Boss then ran OBMM and started game, played saved and continued.

Installed BUFramework v2_00 .7z file from here:

http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php

Extracted and manually copied into Oblivion folder

Ran Boss ran OBMM, checked the ESM, started game saved and continued.

Installed Pluggy v125c from here:

http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=23979

Copied the files into a newly created OBSE Plugins directory in Data folder.

Ran OBMM, started the game saved and continued.

Installed two game stability tweaks, (Fast Exit and the 4GB patch) from this thread:

http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=17&page=31

Ran OBMM, started a game saved, played fine re-saved and continued.

My first question is based on the Quick Installation Guide found in this thread:

http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=30

In Step # 3 from post #2 says to

install the Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch 1.4.0 from here: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10739

In reviewing my steps I realize that I did not install that so I downloaded the omod to install, but it comes up red telling me v1_5_0_OMOD_version_R2-10739.omod will conflict.

Can anyone tell me if that is an older version of the UnofficialOfficialModsPatchv16 that I have already installed?

I suspect it must be so and will probably just delete that omod and continue with the steps outlined in post #2 in the order given but I have two more questions first.

1) Are those files outlined in his section C for Lovers- the current versions or should I look back in the other thread in downloads for the latest versions (such as the new animations from Nusbie and the easier to install AIO mod from Prophor's) thread?

2) Wordsworth (in post #3 same Quick Installation Guide thread) mentions "I would add to that list is the Unofficial Mod Pack Supplementals after stage 4 of the base install"

Again now I am not sure what he is referencing. Any ideas?

I am just trying to take baby steps before I can finally get back into all the awesome Loverslab mods again now that I have Shivering Isles and a new PC. Your patience and help is very much appreciated.

Thanks again.

The USIP 1.5 may have some conflicts with the other UOP patches but it will be fine. The same guys make all three so don't worry about conflicts.

Each of the three files patches different things. UOP patches vanilla oblivion, while UOMP patches the DLC and finally USIP patches the shivering isles.

If you are looking for an easy install of Lovers, do the AIO that Prophour has made as that will get you installed and working quicker than anything else.

I don't know if Prophour has included Nusbie's animations or not yet in his AIO. If he hasn't then the it is very simple to drag and drop Nusbie's files in to your oblivion/data folder.

I think the Wordsworth comment was already addressed by a revision to the OP.

Thanks Greg. In looking at Prophour's Lovers with PK AIO (rev 94) it says "Requirements: Modular Beautiful People 2ch Edition" so I am installing the file mbp.7z (Size: 97.25 KB / Downloads: 493)

from here: http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=6910 first, then will hopefully try the AIO shortly thereafter. Will keep you posted.

The 7zip file is just the translated esp files. You will need the resources too! That is what the torrent link to pirate bay is for.

Okay, maybe if I can understand how all that works I can get further than here lol. Sorry but here is where I get to look really stupid but....I have never downloaded a torrent file before. I thought I just needed to get the AIO zip extract and then install it but there are 9 folders in that file and before I tried to figure out which all goes where (most part looks logical but some files in some of the last directories look like repeats and I don't know wtf the lame folder was for so I came back here and read your reply.

Before I get more confused or go any further, so far I downloaded the mbp 7Zip and installed it via OBMM as an omod. Then I downloaded the Lovers with PK AIO 4.2 zip and unzipped it into a temp directory.

In reading your reply I clicked on the torrent link for the AIO and downloaded a lovers with Pk 188777.tb.torrent file 18.4 kb but have no clue what to do with that.

Initially when I clicked the big download button it wanted me to download an executable called downloadsetup.exe but I am pretty leary of running that as exe is a great way to run things on a pc that will mess things up maliciously in a hurry.

I guess what I am saying is I'm lost and if it is too complicated for me to grasp I guess I can probably just go back my initial plan of slowly downloading and installing the items in the order outlined in the Quick Installation Guide found in this thread: http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=30

and continue with the steps outlined in post #2 in the order given but if you can explain it to me I am all for trying to learn something new.

Thanks for your patience. (as always)

Yea, stay away from any executable that you don't now what they do or are for!

To use torrent files I recommend this program: http://www.utorrent.com/

Click on the free version. Once you have installed uTorrent, then all you have to do is double click the 18.4kb file and uTorrent will automatically open and begin downloading the file. After the download is finished just close uTorrent and then you will need to extract and install the resource file. I recommend doing this just before you go to bed so it will be done by the time you wake up.

You can install the resource file manually (extract, then drag and drop) or you can install it via OBMM as an OMOD. You can do the same for the Lovers with PK AIO. :)

Holler if you have any issues.

Okay, I installed uTorrent and downloaded two files:

AIO Resources.7Z 234,695 KB

MBP Base.7Z 1,188,200 KB

I also downloaded two zipped files from Loverslab

Lovers with PK AIO.7z 2,481 KB (which I unzipped into 9 Folders)

MBP.7Z 98 K

Since MBP is required for the Lovers PK AIO I presume I have to install those first but I am completely unsure of the best manner to do that. Do I select the smaller file mbp.7z first using OBMM and choose add archive and create the OMOD then repeat the process for the resources file from the torrent download?

Then do I repeat the same process for the AIO install or should I unzip everything first?

In re-reading the AIO thread he references an install script but I can't seem to find a readme or install txt file.

Sorry if I am slow, sometimes I would rather have it spelled out for me so I can have a better shot at doing it right than presume that I know what I am doing and make things worse ;(

Wrye Bash is mentioned as well (more of a dry erase and OBMM is more of a Permanent marker) but to be honest I still haven't gotten the hang of that utility at all.

Thanks again for your help.

If you are going to make omods then you don't need to extract anything at all. Just create the omods as you stated above. Just remember to activate them :)

It does not matter which ones you do first.

Hmm, I am guessing I screwed things up as usual then. I added all four of them (as archives) to make into OMODS and ignored the warnings because I don't know really how else to answer (except yes, overwrite lol). So far most all of the females races I've tried creating are shaved so I am thinking I may have installed over some textures or something.

Also none of the males are nude (all have the original underwear).

Looking again at the aio it looks like there isn't a male body replacer so I will have to sort out as I go. I don't see any of the Lovers esps or esms or anything to the right of the OBMM window like I am used to .

I guess I will need to read up again on how to use this utility as before when I used it all I did was unzip the mods and install and activate them and arrange them on the left according to the master list. Now none are there so I am thinking that I did not create the omods correctly. It mentioned a warning about something inside of something and scripts but as I said I never did it this way before and was kind of blindly hoping the utility would figure it all out ;)

Back to tweaking I guess but at least nothing blows up :)

Okay. I'm in the process of starting over again because the more I tried to play the more things were not working~ obviously attributed to my ignorance and impatience. Currently uninstalling Oblivion, and all utilities (BU, TESEDIT, WRYEBASH, OBMM, ETC) running ccleaner defrag and gonna start slower this time.

I may just steer away from the AIO mod as there were too many esps that I am unfamiliar with and probably won't use anyway. Looking back at my notes I believe that it was the way that I created the omods that most likely messed things up. (using OBMM) in selecting "archive" and choosing the zipped files each time it mentioned that I might need to use scripts or I might be better served using "add folder" instead, because it looks like there are subfolders within, I ignored the warnings. If I had chosen use folders I wasn't sure if I would have to unzip those first or not so I just went with the "close your eyes and remain ignorant when easily confused method".

Consequently it and think that may have been the cause of most of the problems I encountered. (The game ran but had problems such as~ during sex only female heads appeared and the bodies went invisible. Upon onset of orgasm big yellow WTF missing meshes appeared followed by the toon turning an interesting glowing pinkish). Missing mesh went away, pink eventually died down but the body did not return.

CTD whenever I tried to enable to creatureorgans esp. Ran WryeBash and it told me I was missing rthe TIE.esp master. Downloaded and installed that as an omod but still no go. I can all but guarantee that it is included in the AIO files just as I said I am pretty sure the way I installed things hosed it all. Anyway, water under the bridge.

Part of my issue I think is I can't really make good sense of the utilities (that apparently are self explanatory to others). My old age has brought about an inability for reading comprehension and although I have tried looking at the manuals (I suspect I'm going to have to go back again and try to comprehend it better) it just loses me. OBMM? Thought I was getting the hang of it. WryeBash...not terribly successful using this one though I did create a bashed patch a few weeks ago on the old PC and thought I might have been finally starting to make sense of that but lately, not so much.

A lot of the confusion I have is do I NEED both OBMM and WRYEBASH? Should I be installing the mods using one instead of the other? From what I gather from Prophour's comments, it makes it sound like Bash is the way to go (dry erase~ easy peasy) vs OBMM Permanent Marker so I was thinking to use that route but I can't make sense of it. I was doing okay using OBMM so I think unless I need both I am going to go back to that again but I am beginning to feel acutely aware of the definition of insanity...

Back to the drawing board. Oh well, at least I have lots of files already downloaded. Wish me luck.

OMG if I lose my OB folder then I'll never play OB again. I always make at least 3 images of my OB folder.

I use both OBMM and Bash, but If I should choose one mine is OBMM. Very easy to script & also functions as backups. Make everything to omod and keep things cool :P Well I don't use BOSS. It screwed my order several times I don't believe it anymore.

Anyway don't forget QTP and LODs and such things. Without them I find my Cyrodiil is so plain. X]
