DOA Last Round

I am thinking about starting to try and use mods with DOA. However after searching this forum for a bit and trying to piece together things, the task looks daugnting. I have modded others games in the past so I think i can manage. However there seems to be many different mod types and different requirements (programs etc) with each. Which is the most universal and accessiable approach? I have read that you can mod the legit version of this (Steam). Then finally, if I want new dlc costumes, do I have to acquire those aswell? Thank You

Hello,

Yes there are many differents software to use for differents mods, the most used is Polygon Tool / Insert Tool I think, because with this one you can remove / add items from others existing costumes but the easiest to use is maybe DLC Tool that allow you to "swap" (switch) between two body or face (as exemple Kasumi with the Cat Body / Costume from Ayane) but you must learn what is compatible or you will encounter neck connection problem and else.

There are also Texture Tool who extract textures from .TMC (only in .dds files) I think there are not a lot of modders that are using uMods but this is one can extract textures too from the game in differents files (png, jpg, dds, ect..)

Yes you can mod your legit game (Steam) but I think someone else will give you a better answer than mine since I am not using the game from Steam I can't help you more.

If you want to use a custom dlc including a new dlc outfit then you could be able to use it but never tested myself, so as for the previous answer, someone else will give you a better answer than me since I am not sure.

I hope these few informations helped you a bit anyway.

Yes it does, I appreciate your information. I'm trying to gather as much before I sit down and commit to it. The only thing that is a bummer is trying to find each of these pieces of software on the net and which are trustworthy. Also I have seen a tutorial here or there throughout the threads, but if you can point me in a better direction that would also be appreciated.

Did you say not many people are using the uMod format anymore? Skyrim modding was easy compared to this it seems.

You can find the most of tools here with a good tutorial for know how use DLC Tool and know compabitility between characters and slots that they can use : http://w11.zetaboards.com/SFxT_Mods/topic/11118060/1/?x=0#post8235370

+ This one for Face Swap : http://w11.zetaboards.com/SFxT_Mods/topic/11149726/1/

I also made a tutorial for know how use uMods in this topic : http://www.loverslab.com/topic/51417-how-to-use-umod-on-doa5lr-which-version-help/

And here is a tutorial for Polygon Tools : http://w11.zetaboards.com/SFxT_Mods/topic/11221937/1

I am still using uMods, a must have for me, but I have the feeling that I am alone or almost to use this software, as I said there are an other tool for extract texture "Texture Tool" and you must have this one if you want to add a permanent texture in a custom DLC.

Yup, that's how it's generally done. 'Transcended Guy' posted the launcher and editable ini in this thread recently, second post down, labelled 'thing.rar':

http://www.loverslab.com/topic/52875-could-anyone-please-post-honoka-bikinis-raw-files/

After that the simplest method of modding the game is to download ready made DLC format mods, which you make entries for in the DLC section of the ini, following the format of the preceding lines. Then you simply drop the numbered folder into the DLC folder in the game directory. After you've installed a few though it's likely you'll develop conflicts over costume slots, which is when it's time to read some tutorials on the DLC tool, and start making your own from the 'raw' tmc/tmcl files that folk often post.

In addition to the tutorials here you'll find more on this board:

The one bit I missed originally was BLP converter, which I came upon a need for eventually, but that's for another time lol. The zetaboard has trustworthy links for all the tools too if you don't find them here.

Lol, and skyrim was made to be modded! Team ninja on the other hand did everything they could to make modders lives harder, with the possible exception of leaving the back door open through the dlc folder haha...  It took some very talented folk to make the tools necessary and to make mods from scratch for this game. Now though thanks to their hard work DLC mods are easy as pie for the user- once you've done it for the first time you won't even miss nexus mod manager haha

Thank you again, now I will wait and see if anyone can weigh in on the steam version of the game. I assume you just replace the launcher in the file folder with a cracked one and load it that way. However I'm not positive.

I can help with that.  However, if you  plan on use mod and play it online, I can't help with that to my knowledge since what I will give you will negate that.  But other than beside online.  You just need steam_api.dll that allow for mod to work.

Thing.rar

It'll come with I just mentioned, costume launcher, and 3DMGAME.ini.

Besides that, umod or lnk reshuffle are the tools you could try for online.  I know there are plenty of tools out there that can work for steam version.
