My absolute favorite character won't load (CTD)

....and I have no idea why. My load order/mod list has not changed in any way, and it is affecting ALL save files for that character only, except for an OLD lv 4. Is there some Oblivion equivalent of papyrus to give me some clue as to what is causing the CTD?

Here's my load order, as is customary.

Before anyone says it, Yes I have used Tes4Edit to clean dirty mods, and yes I have used Wrye Bash to check for missing masters. The style of CTD has a "missing master" feel to it though, so idk...

And to describe the problem in more detail, the CTD happens during the initial savegame load, during the loading screen. Sometimes the crash happens after a couple seconds, sometimes the load bar makes it nearly to the end. It never finishes loading though. :(

I tried that too, I even did the COC Testinghall and loaded the save from there.

I did fix it though, and to those wondering how I did it...

Open Wrye Bash, go to the SAVES tab. Right click the save file in question, and select LOAD MASTERS. Then REMOVE BLOAT, and any other utilities you think may be needed. After that, my save loaded fine and I immediately saved it onto a new slot, moved away from the area to a small interior, and made another new save, just in case. The save file now works just great ^_^

It is a Load with no order :D

It amazes me that Lovers works, or the other mods. Even the DLCs are not in Order. Morrowind, Oblivion and Skrim are very load order sensitive.

Seems he never heard of BOSS or the Lovers load order.

But he has not so many mods, and if the game works....

Many years ago I also had only 50 Mods and could play without a Load order, but then I wanted to add one new Mod and placed it at the end of the "Load orde", in the middle, at the top (CTD,CTD,CTD) Then I discovered the "mysterious" load order. ;)

DLC and other Mods load order:

OBlivion.esm

and other esm

I've always adhered to the load order specifications recommended by each of the authors whose mods I downloaded so I can't say I've ever really had any CTD problems with Oblivion.* Anyway, maybe I'm just being too pragmatic and this is a wake up call to start doing things my own way. I'll go put my Oblivion.esm below my bashed patch and merge all my "NoMerge" plugins!

* Well, except while using the "Construction Set" to duplicate a thousand Daedra warriors and pretend to be playing "TES Total War".
