Tips Please?

So I managed to score a student version of 3ds Max 2012 because I want to learn how to mod.

 

Yes I'm already scouring this site for tutorials, videos and other resources, but if there's any 3ds Max users out there... If there's any tips or wisdom you can impart that tutorials and videos can't, please lay it on me.

Google is probably the going to score you the best leads.  Beyond the tuts, it is putting in the time that will benefit you the most.  You'll make more mistakes and ruin things at first but it will gradually get better.  Learning to use a modeling program like 3dsmax or blender has a pretty steep learning curve.

Pretty much yeah, any official stickied threads or tutorials on here, youtube and whatever else google can cough up I've been going through.
