Devious Devices causing CTD past Bethesda logo, in title screen, but before buittons appear

See title and attached TrainWreck crash log.

I started hitting this error earlier today.  I've tried browsing other threads and it looks like there's an animation limit of some kind in place, but even after removing several animation mods, it doesn't work.  I even took out all of the mods/updates I added earlier today between when my game last ran and when I started playing it again and rerunning Nemesis, it's still crashing at the same place with the same error.  Seems to fail on the keyword "zad_Lockable" every single time.

Anyone else have this error and know how to fix it?  I'm going to continue working on it in the meantime, and hopefully if I find a fix, I'll post what I did.

EDIT:  Welp, I think the problem is specifically with the Devious Devices NG version of DeviousDevices.dll, because I replaced it with the most recent DD dll but kept everything else in the mod, and it works just fine.  Looks like I'm migrating all of this information over to that thread.

You can crash right there if you dont have all the dependancies.

And of course there is the matter of which version of each mod to install, afterall these mods support 1.5.97 and 1.6.353 AE

However they might not work on the latest version of the game, I wouldnt know I got off the update train years ago.

I have all of those.  This worked as recently as earlier today.  I did not remove any of these mods, I did not alter them, and yet it's crashing.  Something has deeply fucked my load order, and even after removing all new mods, LOOTing, removing animations, everything, I can't play teh game.

My "swap the DLLs" fix only gets me past the menu.  It crashes in a new game (Skyrim Unbound) and fails to load any existing saves.

That's because there was a bug in the DeviousDevices.dll you were using before.

Switch to this crash logger, Trainwreck is no good for remote assistance. Post a log if you want it looked at.

Believe it or not, I was using both, but switched them on and off at various points to get different crash logs.

I have attached the most recent one from an attempt to start a new game last night to this post.  It has every mod installed, old and new.  I'll double-post to attach one from attempting to load an existing save to keep them separate.

EDIT:  Never mind, gets weird.  I can load the game just fine, but the moment I try to use anything, the game crashes.  The crash log points to iHUD (immersive HUD), at least at the top level, but that can't be the problem, because iHUD hasn't been changed in weeks and was working just fine.

I've seen one of these before but don't recall if there was a fix. See if you can find something on Google/LL about BSWin32GamepadDevice and MouseMoveEvent. Add my name to the search if you need to narrow it down, I was there.

Edit: If you find nothing, let me know and I'll see about having a proper look at the log. Too busy to do either of these things right now.

Edit again: Here's the same problem, with a fix.

Having a similar issue

Entirely different issue. Your crash came from ConsoleUtilSSE.dll because a mod tried to execute "setfog 0 0". This is a somewhat common issue. Update ConsoleUtilSSE. There's an NG variant which may be newer/older/different.

Okay, so, update.

I used this opportunity to rebuild my mod list, including removing mods I no longer used, getting better "foundational" mods to build off of, and a whole host of other things.  During the process, QuickLootEE, it turns out, is fucked.  I'm not sure how, I hadn't modified it in months.

It was causing a CTD after the Bethesda logo and after ENB Shaders were compiled.  I removed it and its one dependency and got back to the main menu just like that.  However, I'm still not really able to proceed.  Now I'm getting to the same error above on New Game.  Get past the first few notifications from OStim and SOS, and about half a second after I start a new game in Skyrim Reborn and the first quests start popping up, freeze and crash. (19-06-24 crash log)

Went back to my old order, removed QuickLoot, same error attempting to interact with anything at all. (19-19-23).  So, back to square one, but a little bit wiser.

You're a lifesaver. I'm building my modlist from the WabbaJack "Skyrim Modding Essentials" pack and it ships with the non NG version of Console Util.

So one of those is the same as here, the other still looks like you have QuickLoot installed, but you don't as far as I can see. So, try to think of some other mod which (potentially) uses UI elements and would be interested in interacting with the mouse. One plugin sticks out above others:

BetterThirdPersonSelection.dll

Well, it turns out that the QuickLoot EE problem was because the mod DLL hasn't been updated to account for 1170, but there is a fixed DLL floating around that hasn't been added to the main archive.  I updated it and got past that error.  However, on loading the same existing save as above, I got another crash trying to activate the same thing as last time.  That crash log is attached (15-12-55).

Gonna check and see if it fixed the new game issue at least.  If it crashes, I will attach that one too via an edit.

I did see that OStim Standalone hadn't been updated in that other thread, but I have the latest update (29 April).

EDIT:  Yeah, still crashes on new game, log attached (15-27-00).  Though it does get a little bit further.  I do see the cursor menu toward the top of both crash logs.  Dear Diary Dark Mode currently shows as the sitting override for both of them, and that hasn't been touched in months and previously worked just fine.  Am I gonna have to shut it off to see if it works?

Both of those are CursorMenu crashes. See my previous link.

I followed that link.  The solutions I saw were:

-OStim outdated, you provided an updated ESP.  I do not use OStim.  I use OStim Standalone, which was updated.

-Some SWFs failing, cursormenu was suspected in the crash log.  Disable mods that overwrite.  I did, but they did not fix the problem.

-Flashing save fix.  Didn't experience it, didn't try this solution.

None of those were relevant, but good news, however, is that I did figure out what was up.  I googled the exact register error and the first thread was a reddit thread talking about SkyClimb being the problem.  One disabled mod later, and SkyClimb was indeed the problem.  It had an outdated DLL that wasn't and still hasn't been updated to 1170.  I removed it and everything works now.

You missed the (in this case) important bit:

https://www.loverslab.com/topic/225933-game-closes-as-soon-as-it-opens/?do=findComment&comment=4297647

The ostim.dll thing was for a different crash log. Its unfortunate that threads do not usually stick to one topic. Kinda forces you to read the entire thing to see whats relevant and whats on-topic. I do not read threads in their entirety either - if I can't find it with a Ctrl+F and 5 seconds of effort I'm out of there. 😆

Good thing you got it fixed though.
