Help this translator!

Recommended Posts

Im Japanese translator of Skyrim mods.

I enjoy the work of the great creators of lovers lab and also volunteer to help anons in Japan enjoy their work.
But I have a problem.
I've been studying English for a while now, but I have no clue about slang and other phrases specific to the English version of Skyrim.
For example, the term "milk drinker" in Skyrim is not only not translated in the Japanese version, it has been erased.
So I thought I'd ask a few experts in the field to help me out.

First of all, what is the difference between pussy and cunt?

pussy and cunt. The same.

pussy = more cute, almost turned from slang into a normal term.  When used as an insult it means "you're a softie." "A soft guy" "fearful guy"

cunt =  more rude, vulgar.  As an insult you would say "you dirty cunt" but not "you dirty pussy"   with the meaning of Bitch, bastard, whore.

So you can say "Nice pussy you have"  if you mean the vulva.  And "Pussy lips"  is a common term for "labia"

If it is not a dirty, rude rap song you dont say "You have a nice cunt".   But in rap songs, cunt and bitch seem to be compliments, not insults :classic_wink:  ( intended to be sarcastic, but apparently true )

EDIT:   Wouldn't it be better to post this in the Skyrim section? Not in "Big Board of Fun"

To put it short: cunt is straight up vulgar. Pussy is not. That's the only difference that matters.

Of note "cunt" carries a very different weight depending on where in the English speaking world you are. There are places where it's one of the most taboo words you can utter and others where it's extremely common. As branmakmuffin noted, it's highly contextual. A lot of LL-type mod use is more about being objectifying and degrading, reducing a woman to her genitals.
