PS I will definitely give this other one a try.

I was going to if this run got broken.

 

I have not used startmeup yet even though I have it..

Actually I started fresh so many times in past week as part of my trouble shooting I get out of that bunker pretty quick. First time around it was a lengthy and tedious chore getting out of V111.

 

So for clean install of this other mod do I need to delete anything on my list?

Or just install that mod on top of my others via vortex and then start a new game?

i downloaded 

def_ui in the hope it might fix my container issues but it just mutilated tons of stuff.

It disabled about half my plug ins including the critical ones.

re enabling them and deleting def_ui was the easy part but now when i start up the game i get the message 

in a big green square on the screen:

 

MAKE CONFIG XML WITH CONFIG APP 

Please run HUDMENSET.exe from DATA INTERFACE FOLDER

And the first line is even more mysterious.

That means you are getting into serious modding steps.   That XML is typically not touched except for those who are building patches.    Unfortunately, my mod set does not go that direction, so how it changes the HUD, the processes it uses, etc. are unknown to me.  

 

Every mod list is different, so the gamer has to be able to recognize what mod mix works for them and what doesn't.    Also, some mods will mod out other mods (Brutal Agony, for example, has a great immersive injury system but advanced needs is more comprehensive, so I have to run both with a few fixes.       Basically, you should be happy that you are starting to learn coding!     Next you will be building Unreal 5.02 games and running tons of python scripts.  

 

Thanks for the kind words for the mod, yes it was a shameless plug, but hey I am not above shameless promotion!

 

As for where you are in your modding, don't lose faith.   As I said, I suspect your issue with the containers is a load order one or missing esm or  esl.    As for Def UI.....may @Sgt. Marge knows it or @Gamaramdi, @Operand or one of the other very knowledgeable FO4 modders can help.

That is what my prob looked like.

but I am proud I found a way to fix it myself!

I had a spare complete copy of FO4 from earlier today in another HD ( I was hoping to run it speretaly perhpas ot run the mod u suggested)

But... Bethesda will not allow us ot do that..

sigh

 

So it was there and I decided to overwrite the folder that I suspected was corrupted by the def ui with the content on an unmolested folder.

Started it up 3 min ago with an slightly older save

Seems to work ok.

 

Still no animations though

Hi, i remember that Def Ui is tricky to install but, maybe you skipped tha part of installing a sorter?

Anyway is a good idea to keep a backup, my fallout 4 runs on every drive i place it, maybe because i downloaded a "non official portable one" and just overwriten the files of it with the "official bethesda legal one", even when my original installation is untouched and updates everytime that bethesda wants my play folder is out of their reach, so i can experiment without fear of loosing my game.

But the problem with the containers solved itself.

Which is great since it improves immersion.

 

I disabled and reenabled plug ins connected to these files and somethign I guess sorted itself out.

or it was the over write with my "clean " files

This game is incredibly realistic and immersive especially with the social upheavals and misconduct shown which is exactl whta would happen real world with real human beings.

The next step of realism would be installing the mod that enables the character to get pregnant.

This  is more realism and immersiveness since it will be a struggle to avoid this under these circumstances.

 

Last time that mod broke the game and it too multiple hours to restore it but I am getting  a lot better at this.

 

And I also want to try the mod with the studio, it seems to be highly recommended by members on this forum.

PS the animations work 90% of the time now. And that is all I can ask in such a complex and modded game.

 I made it to Boston.

gets lots of crashes when I am in dialogue with raiders.

Seems like some responses form them are missing?

 

Any recommendations on what I should install or reinstall?

dialogue with raiders?   CTDs with dialogue is usually the result of two mods that mod the dialogue.   As for missing dialogue, if it is your first time there, how do you know some lines are missing?    One big issue (though it does not cause CTDs) is that people forget to turn on subtitles.

 

Since you are having CTDs, if you can post a crash log that would help out troubleshooting immensely.

Ah, see the magic of modding.  You keep messing with it until you get a stable load and then FREEZE IT!   so you can come back to it after you find another cool mod to add.

Looks like I spoke too soon.

Literally after reading your email my game crashed hard.

F4SE wont even start up.

 

I tried disable and reenable  Will not start up at all.

 

Should I uninstall/reinstall F4SE?

Or FO4?

or both?

 

And if I do either or both what will happen to my mods in Vortex?

Fixed itself.

I excepted the worst again. But a restart of steam and of the computer fixed it.

It seems these crashed happen most often when I move too quickly and a NPC thinks he is in dialogue with me but I am not in of range anymore.

Or dialogue opened up on 2 NPCs the one I was wanting to talk to and another that wanted to talk to me.

Or something.

 

As one might imagine playing a female character I often find myself trying to get away quickly from folks that want to "talk".

With some of the mods I use, yes every time I play a female PC, she ends up being a sniper, while my male PCs end up as melee fighters or pistol experts.  

 

Your set up sounds fundamentally unstable.   Once you have a game that you can start, play then save and exit, make that mod list and setup a profile in your mod organizer or vortex.

Only problem I been having is occasional loops  animation when 2 NPCs are trying to animate with me or talk to me same time.

Ive' learned to some trick to avoid situations where it looks.

 

Right now my character has gotten herself into quite the predicament.

Her shock collar got activated by someone in  a location where they brutalize her well beyond what is necessary to secure her for their fun.

It takes 2 days sleep in a bed just to recover from that.

And then its time to go back or she will get it ( long range control of collar achieved ).

 

So her life is basically hell.

When I walk her back on the entry door of that building it seems like the gates of hell for her.

Also I turned down animations to the shortest time possible otherwise the game basically turns into  a porno movie.

I do not mind some roughness for realism, but some of what is being done to her is other the top.

 

Is my fault too.

Because when an earlier wielder of her collar died the game opened up all controls on the collar and she was able go into collar control to change combinations.

She take it off or even put in a combination known to her. ( this way she could have still worn it which presumably would hve -[revented anyone equipping her with a collar of their own. So a collar with a know number would have protected her more from this than no collar at all (because they are put on women fairly freely during certain misadventures in the game)

So I decided that would not be realism immersive for me ( because how would such a mechanism in such a control device be justified)

it would give  a huge incentive for the wear to kill the wielder of the controller.

So I randomized the code made a point of not looking at it, set the device to shock on wrong code  and closed it again like it was prior.

So then a raider found a way to activate me and it went down hill from there, for the character.

The melancholic sad music that plays during the animations and elsewhere in the game seems very fitting.

I turned of BW because it results in nonsensical conversation with the men there who own I belong to the building for free use.

 

Definitely did not do her or the game play a service.

I know there are places where u can get them removed but w/o a cheat in my current situation I will neve amass those small fortunes.

I could start all over and never put on the pretty shiny blinking collar ( I started out as  a very low intelligence build , in favor of charisma and I wanted to be immersive...)

 

I dont just want to cheat but part of me feels if I just save and abandon this file, i create a parallels universe somewhere, where my character has to live this this.

Including getting pregnant with obesely huge morphs due to pregnancy. last time around they were especially excessive\

And BTW  unless Mr. Long has been raping me in my sleep in sanctuary the race assignment of babies is broken in Planned Parenthood.

And the moment when she "knew" was also different folks.

Mr Long has changed quite a bit form his mild manner previous as my characters reputations has developed.

 

I may do a restart.

One could argue even if such collars are disseminated widely in the wasteland ( there were even 2 in sanctuary's workshop just lying around)

Modern folks could not be expected to be very good at hacking them.\

So next time I'll set the Likelihood perhaps well below default.

 

If this was a real situation with such devices and in this society she would never get out of it.

To my knowledge there is no computer rapid shop within 2 days walking distance.

And I dont even know where any would be.

but in the real world she could never risk walking further than a days walk away anyway... since  a lack of success in getting it removed could kill her.

Maybe she could try to hire  a gunner to Assassine the wielder of the controller.

Not sure if there are any scripts in there for that or how she would pay him (other than with her body and I doubt if that's enough, many pretty NPC strutting around that could be had for such a man with much less problems)

 

Of course I could cheat.

I could toggle the world gaming controls that the game reassigns collar within 1 day.

And she has the "right" to stay away for 2.

Maybe she deserves that I might cheat for her?

Something like divine intervention reaching down saving her from this misery?

Or I could hope that the guy dies.

One time a deathclaw attacked the building perhaps attracted by the commotion from the "festivities".

 

If I do a playthrough with a Nate ( who presumably as a vet will know how to use powerarmor and grow into a combat character without break of realistic immersion) I will go there and exterminate those guys.

PS; So a divine power intervened and answered her prayers and the collar came off.

however the very next day during travel she was accosted again ( even though I set equip shock collar to half of default but that is life in the wasteland)

And the day after that someone even found a activation for it again even though I had set it to only 5%.

Girl cant get a break.

But now that I turned off BW  (which still kicked in sometimes even as "Pet")  i get treated a lot better in certain situations.

Not well, mind you, but better.

Sounds like a pretty brutal existence,  and what is interesting is that experience might make doing porn movies at Nuka World (Nuka Ride) while under the protection of the nuka world gangs seem more appealing.  

 

Of course, you could restart and make your PC a former military sniper.   Then, few get close enough to lay a dirty finger on her.

I think things are manged pretty well now. 

I set the reset days for collar short, I know its  a bit of  an exploit but call it divine intervention.

Now she can more freely all throughout the wasteland without getting attacked simply due to her "friendly" reputation.

I want realistic immersion.

I am not a "sniper" should why should she be?

I am not strong so also no reason to make her that.

When young I used to be pretty and agile so thats where my points went.

That is good too.   The game is what you make, and it should be fun for you.     Modding allows those of us who can build a stable set up to momentarily "live in a different way."  I find myself unable to play an evil player (Dungeon Keeper 2 is about as evil as I get), so that is why I would always end up killing all the raiders of Nuka World.    However, after seeing it in a different light (the raiders of Nuka Ride are more humanized, meaning some are pretty bad, some are pretty good....just like in the rest of the Commonwealth factions), which is what I find enjoyable. 

 

Bottom line, play the game as you want to, making it the best stress release/fun time as possible!
