Problems with heavily modded FO:NV... Help?

I am not sure, though I can make a reasonable guess, that the problem I am experiencing is related to my game being heavily modded.

Anyway, my problem is that the game dosn't load my save games, atleast not the newer ones. I can get around this by first loading an old save, from when I was level 2 and still in goodsprings, and THEN load my latest save. This is however getting to be a pain as the game cracshes fairly regularly. It started as soon as I entered New Vegas, in Freeside. Disabling a bunch of mods did the trick as well, but that is not an option. If I have to play vanilla or anything close to it I'll simply stop playing the game.

I haven't left New Vegas yet, so I don't know if it will stop once I return to the wasteland or not.

Anyone know a better solution than the double-loading technique? Or will the game continue to de-generate until it becomes unplayable? I have heard that there is issues with savegame corruption when using the quick- and auto-save features, is this it?

Yes, autosaves eventually (for some quicker than others) do lead to save game bloat and corruption. Quicksaves are a complete waste as they corrupt even faster.

While it is a pain manual saves are the best way to avoid corruption.

Some tools to help you track down conflicts:

Wrye Flash NV - this is very similar to Wrye Bash for Oblivion (is a port actually) this powerful tool has MANY features including mod conflict detection\correction, save game fixes and more: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35003

Note: this requires wrye python 4a to be installed for it to work - availible here: http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22368

FNVEdit - this powerful tool can be used to track down conflicts in mods and correct them: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34703
