my newest crash report, after turning on f4ee, memory debug, and input switch (which i turned off cause it broke my controller)

crash-2021-10-31-02-13-29.log 33.97 kB · 0 downloads

Sorry, I was away for the day. So what I know about reading those crash logs: the issue comes from the mod that has the index (load order alphanumeral) 1A. The full record is 1AF8F6A. Check what mod is in that index and see what you can find about it. Are you using Mod Organizer 2?

PS. This is a good resource for trouble shooting. Additionally, I'd recommend getting Baka Scrap Heap if you don't already have that installed.

the most recent crash report, still crashing at the main menu

crash-2021-10-31-18-23-48.log 36.81 kB · 0 downloads

So the crash logs do mention the Pony BSA. Try unpacking that BSA, or disable the mod and see if you still crash at load. All the logs point to CaN Pony Mane. Also, as far as I know, only MO2 is recommended for AAF. Vortex is alright, but I know the AAF guys pretty much won't debug anything unless you use MO2.

PS. Oh, can you quote reply to me? I didn't get a notification when you posted, so it took me a bit to check back. Also you can try to disable the CaN Flamerunner too. Sometimes the Index for a mod changes between the mod manager and the game. No idea why. Think it's related to adjusting mod orders mid-game. My Skyrim save sometimes has mismatched RefIDs.

the only problem with turning it off, is that pretty much every pony mod i have downloaded (fallout equestria 4 and the various mod patches) all require the mane pack

Yeah, that makes sense. I kind of figured. Try it though, save your load order in Vortex, turn it off, then just try to load into the main menu. If it works, then at least you have a strong starting point to fix the issue. Otherwise, the typical advice is to go uncheck each of the mods you recently installed to see when the crash stops.

= Check Plugins
This is a report of any problems Wrye Bash was able to identify in your currently installed plugins.

Note that all FormIDs in the report are relative to the entire load order. If you want to view these FormIDs in FO4Edit, make sure to load your entire load order (simply accept the 'Module Selection' prompt in FO4Edit with OK).

=== Deleted Navmeshes
The following plugins have deleted navmeshes. They will cause a CTD if another plugin references the deleted navmesh or a nearby navmesh. They can only be fixed manually, which should usually be done by the mod author. Failing that, the safest course of action is to uninstall the plugin.
* __AA FusionCityRising.esp:__  1 deleted navmesh
* __DrakenVale Manor.esp:__  2 deleted navmeshes
* __Flamehoof Island.esp:__  81 deleted navmeshes
* __MV Red Rocket.esp:__  7 deleted navmeshes

=== Deleted Base Records
The following plugins have deleted base records. If another plugin references the deleted record, the resulting behavior is undefined. It may CTD, fail to delete the record or do any number of other things. They can only be fixed manually, which should usually be done by the mod author. Failing that, the safest course of action is to uninstall the plugin.
* __Cross_Patch-CourserSuit.esp:__  10 deleted base records
* __Cross_Patch-ExpeditionarySuit.esp:__  8 deleted base records
* __dlcprojectx_mainplugin.esm:__  7 deleted base records
* __Fallout Equestria - The Train.esp:__  1 deleted base record

* __VotWMaster.esm:__  1 deleted base record

=== HITMEs
The following plugins have HITMEs (__H__igher __I__ndex __T__han __M__asterlist __E__ntries), which most commonly occur when the Creation Kit or an advanced mode of FO4Edit were used to improperly remove a master. The behavior of these plugins is undefined and may lead to them not working correctly or causing CTDs. Such a plugin is usually beyond saving and mod authors should revert to a backup from before the HITMEs corrupted the plugin. The safest course of action for a user is to uninstall it.
* __ComputerChip.esp:__  124 HITMEs
* __Fallout Equestria Companions.esp:__  86 HITMEs
* __NW_FrozenOnes.esp:__  7 HITMEs

=== Record Type Collisions
The following records override each other, but have different record types. This is undefined behavior, but will almost certainly lead to CTDs. Such conflicts can only be fixed manually, which should usually be done by the mod author. Failing that, the safest course of action is to uninstall the plugin.

Yeah, that makes sense. I kind of figured. Try it though, save your load order in Vortex, turn it off, then just try to load into the main menu. If it works, then at least you have a strong starting point to fix the issue. Otherwise, the typical advice is to go uncheck each of the mods you recently installed to see when the crash stops.

this wonderful wall of text, is from the plugin checker in fo4edit

i followed this instructions here in order to do the plugin check https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/articles/3115

but i still don't understand any of it

Most of that looks okay. Nothing that's pointing towards the CaN Pony ESM. Exception Access Violations are just the game saying it was trying to load some data and it couldn't. Since it pointed towards the CaN Pony file then it seems that's the issue. Though it could be something that modifies the file, such as the Pony Raiders that popped up in one of the logs. That is an older file, could be the cause. But, yeah I'd say you need to test removing CaN Pony manes, try to start it, then try removing Pony Raiders if that doesn't work, try to start. If that doesn't work then it's removing each mod you installed since the problem started to see when you are able to start the game.

I've also heard of a rare occurrence of having too many archives (BSA files) causing a crash on start up. Unpacking a smaller BSA to lower the limit might fix the issue. Though you really want to keep things packed in BSAs since it helps with the load time of the game. It's just more difficult to know what is overwriting a BSA'd file since it won't show up in a mod manager and any loose files always overwrite archived files.

what irks me the most, is that the stupid game was working fine (except for the all too common ctd during gameplay or the problem where the game would just straight up freeze when sleeping) until i downloaded the cross outfits and weapons (handmaiden, recon, archimedes, etc), their ae patches and nuclear winter patches.

but those are just outfits, weapons, and crafting patches. so they shouldn't be a problem at all.

i honestly don't know what the problem with my stupid game is. and with 209 active files and 584 light files, i REALLY don't want to go through the stuff one at a time.

Your crash logs are all the same. All with that 1A index. I can't quite tell from your replies if you've tried what I've mentioned to do. I can't really help any more if you don't. I'm going to leave you with, essentially, three options to troubleshoot:

1. Disable the 1A indexed mod, see if the CTD occurs. If it doesn't then you're going to have to figure out what is causing the issue when it didn't previously. Could be an update to the mod broke it, could be another mod changing the records or interacting with it wrong.

1a. If it stops the CTD then you have a strong understanding of what is causing the problem, but you'll have to go from there to keep the mod. Or, it could be that BSA crash I mentioned. Too many BSA, allegedly, cause a crash. If you have quite a lot of mods, that could be the issue.

2. Go through each of the mods you downloaded since the issue arouse and disable one at a time to see if you get the CTD. I thought I saw you said you added more mods to your list as it was still having a CTD. Just try your best to recall when the issue happened and cross reference your CRL-J downloads tab on your browser to see what you might have added in.

3. Post your crash log on the Buffout 4 comments page and hope the Author takes a look at it and can give you a better idea what's going on.

If you have a memory error, there really is no "Safe" mods. Pretty much anything can cause a crash. Usually with clothing mods it's a bad reference or a missing file path. Trust me, anything can cause a CTD. CTD's at launch though are a clear sign that something is obviously broken in a mod (or mod interacting with another one) or something critical is missing. Again, see my above.

Oh, lastly, there's also the question of load order. Especially with AE, which has some reputation for causing crashes when in the wrong spot. If you use LOOT, well... I really wouldn't recommend that. I know load order tweaking can be an absolute pain, but knowing what you are installing and where it needs to go is very important. Paying close attention to the mod page. One of the reasons you need to be a little careful not to batch add a tonne of mods at one time. You won't know what is causing an issue like this if you happened to add in twenty mods at once.

@IceBlazeWinters Have you tried to launch the game with 0 mods and through the vanilla launcher to make sure it's not a corrupt vanilla file? Verifying local game files through Steam wont detect a corrupted file btw.

Also, a quick way to find a bad mod is the 50/50 method.

Disable 1/2 your mods> Load the game (or a vanilla* save if it makes it that far)

If it loads or doesn't, you've just narrowed it down by 50%.

Enable/Disable 1/2 of the suspect batch of mods> Repeat above.

Keep repeating until you get a small number of mods, then disable them one at a time. But after 4 rounds, you should have a pretty darn good idea which one is the party pooper.

*vanilla save = A game save that has never seen any mods and was launched via the vanilla launcher before being made.
