[SOLVED] [HELP] Quest Misfire...

What can cause a quest to not fire off? I have a rash of seemingly random quests failing to launch, or failing to provide quest markers, piling up. Among them are, Shalidor's Insights (no QM), Companion quest line not continuing after Animal Extermination, the Drunken Dragon mod isn't letting me hire a shop keeper, just to name the most prevalent ones. Any help appreciated.

One of the more difficult problems to solve.

 

You are using Live Another Life mod, so you have to go near Helgen to activate main quest (just stating the obvious, you probably already know)

 

Usually quest problems are related to mod load order (unless one or more custom quests mods are inherently buggy).

 

LOOT is good but not perfect. You should handle mod load order manually.

 

Unfortunately giving suggestions about mod load order is like walking into a minefield. So many different opinions about the subject and modders are very passionate about it like a religion.

 

Consider changing load order for your quest mods (i.e. the reborn mods and other custom location mods).

Yeah I do use LOOT, and am aware of it's... short comings. I will take a look with SSEedit to see if I can find some conflicts. thanks for the advice ?

coming from oblivion where load order is more than a religion , but with skyrim and the lot of mods it is impossible .

 

as Shadowbroker3495 said it is more likely to be a load order  while it is not so importante it is importante .

 

loot is useful to sorte some of the mods but not enough as ReverendFelix you said Xedit helps to adjust position in load order .

 

a need to fit load order in to categories  may be helpful  but the most importante tool is your nose !!!   (your install : MO , Vortex . your mods : heavy or light scripted and the number of them , not forgetting bash and now esl )

 

first is to run loot then if the game shows problems verify with Xedit and at last if you feel a mod is not ok ! you try to reposition in a better load order before or after an other mod .

@coolfreaky Yeah I hear ya! I've been modding (learning to mod lol) since TES3. If I've learned anything, it's that knowing what you're chosen mods do and making you're LO accordingly, is the only real way to mass mod your game. I'll have to stop relying on LOOT so much and start using LLOM (logical load order method) as well. Nothing new, but LOOT was doing good up until now for me. Thanks for you input ?

just pop up in my mind  !    you could use papyrus utilities : the log file precisely to see what is lagging and stack  How to enable Papyrus Logging at Skyrim Nexus - Mods and Community (nexusmods.com) ( just in cas) . 

You might find a lot of missing ( scripts , parameters ) for some of them it is normal as it fires up before the mod does . but it can give you some clues about the mods that has difficulties .

Yeah, that's a good thought. I disabled most forms of logging. It saves on fps, but has obvious drawbacks.
