Teechan Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 The BF and I are waiting for this MMO to come out (another free to play PerfectWorld game). Open beta starts on April 30th but you can download the 3.6 gb client now. Anyone else thinking about playing?
Guest ThatOne Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Considering it, but knowing PWE and seeing as they already offer a 200$ package before the game even released... I'll just say my expectations "could have been higher" and leave it at that.
lakawana_shack Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Friend of mine that I met in PWI wants to try this as well. I've heard some meh things about it, but also that this isn't just a bad tera knockoff like they did with raiderz. We had a lot of fun with the combat in tera and gw2, so I'm pretty sure we're going to try it.
leddis3 Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I for one refuse to touch it, as it's developed by Cryptic, who have a history of ineptitude and treating their playerbase extremely poorly.
GreyElf Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I'll be playing it with some friends on the 30th, looking forward to it.
Xariama Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Playing it now, having quite a bit of fun with it. But I'm a D&D geek 35 years and running, so...
Astaroth-Lite Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 It's like a less pretty but more interesting Tera. Â Like, I don't feel like I have to force myself to make progress; and that's a good sign. Â That said, there is a lot about it that annoys me; typical MMO stuff, really. The price is right, at least. Â Playing it now, having quite a bit of fun with it. But I'm a D&D geek 35 years and running, so... Â All the Forgotten Realms lore aside, I find it very easy to forget this is supposed to be D&D related.
Emily Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 TERA still win. Â it's resemble DAO.2 with D&d lore. Â But the it's completely off the original player hand book. If you wish to travel to neverwinter, underdark, waterdeep, amn, baldursgate, icewind dale, and other province in faerun go for this game to experience their continent. However as D&d fan. it's completely missing every old school touch like gary gygax died and some korean GM replaced him. Â TERA, F4 and elder scroll online is still a good option if neverwinter fails on you.
Mana Yakushima Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I was wondering, what are the supposed d&d bits? As someone who knows nothing about d&d for the most part, the only thing that seemed to be a reference to that is the die roll at the character creation?
Astaroth-Lite Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 It's set in the Forgotten Realms setting. The monsters, city, all the fluff. That's pretty much it. There's no actual D&D crunch in the game aside from the stat categories that are used, and even they aren't used the same way.

As someone who knows nothing about d&d for the most part, the only thing that seemed to be a reference to that is the die roll at the character creation? Â It's good for someone who are new to d&d. But not for those who spent their child hood on D&d table top and forgotten realm lores.
windpl Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Played it, and it is awful. A bit upgraded City of heroes engine. Only interesting thing is combat, it is at least not another wow clone. I know that is beta but still... Well we will see.
Emily Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 it's not bad for F2P and it could be better than Wow on given chances.  Emily play as dwarf on beholder server. The most positive thing in this game is that it's an american origin. So they don't wait slowpoke development and upgrades nor event permission from franchise holder and act according to bug and historical incorrect role. It's all Here and Now.  and it's also refereshing to see american players majority over BR and other retarded South east asian kids spoiling all the fun.  Unlike that scarlet blade from aeria games that made their own players fixing the stupid client manually and banned for it.
Koko.Hekmatyar Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I more or less gave up on F2P games everyone of them starts out fine but the moment they release the cash shop the game turns from F2P into P2W = pay to win. It goes from having to work and earn your items and levels to you can advance in the game much easier via game breaking items and then there are the Arrogant cash shoppers who think they are hot shit but in reality they are just noobs who have to pay their way to the top of a GAME!!
Jexsam Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I could care less about it, as long as it doesn't rip too much attention from Star Trek Online.

Emily Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Pay to win isn't bad. But gambling money for costume outfit on random boxes is bad. sometimes players could end up scammed with a lifetime supply of red potion.
Emily Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 ... strange, the server keep patching the clients for like almost everyday now and then.
