Swanky Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 So recently there's talk that PN is old and outdated and that it has some bad practices resulting in performance loss. While I know there are already alternatives for sprinting, hold breath, cyberware, visor overlays... There should be alternatives for health progression, damage overhauls, merchant & economy overhaul, TAG system overhauls... But for me to make the jump I'd also be in need of a configurable loot chance modificator, configurable run speed modificator, and a configurable experience modifier with settings for hack, lockpick, discover, quest reward and combat XP. Also, a good weight rebalancer for hardcore. lStewie's Tweaks https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/66347 B42 Quickthrow https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/66686 Just Mods https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/66666 Helmet Overlay https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/67870 So... which mods do YOU recommend as alternatives?
Guest Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 My extra recommendations: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/68718 https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/67655 https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/68781 Last version of Solid Project, if you still have a copy. For better performances, I'd start cutting out texture mods and in general mods with tons of assets inside (check the size of the package)
Swanky Posted November 15, 2020 Author Posted November 15, 2020 I don't have any issues with performance, running up to 4k mods and replacers. Couple of other people mentioned PN clogging up ram usage, though. Was Solid Project also not too well done? And half abandoned? Also, regarding Unfound Loot. While it could be a suitable replacement for loot, I always found PN's option to reduce loot by rarity appealing. Like, common ammo, 50%, uncommon, 25%, rare 20% and very rare 15%. Of course it makes it tough to decide what ammo is what (and every other item for that matter), but I always liked the control it gave over loot. Unfound loot only has a general chance of removal.
Guest Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 if you have no issues with performances then even better, less concerns for you. SP was very well done, it was abandoned because its creator left modding. If a mod works in 2010, there's a good chance that it works in 2015 and 2020 too, it's been a while that the game has no more updates.
jynx474 Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 For Cyberware I would go with Cyberware 2281 https://eddoursul.win/mods/cyberware-2281/, plus CyberJam https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/74655 for Just Assorted Mods functionality and last but not least for Vision Mode replacements I would go with Gopher's Advanced Recon Thermal Night Vision https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/38328 Which was Updated Last Week.
_NXvLL_ Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Not sure if this will help, but "lurking" in FONV guides, I found this, here they list some recommendations, most of which have been already been mentioned. I hope is at least useful: https://vivanewvegas.github.io/avoid-mods.html#replacing_pn
