Will Sims 4 run in VR (VorpX)

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I tried to run the Sims 3 in VR and VorpX won't 'hook' into it. I can use the 'rename .exe' trick to get VorpX to run it but it remains a 2D application - there are no options in the VorpX menu once in 'VR' to change anything related to the VR display type. I was actually baffled as many, MANY games work this way, but apparently the Sims 3 isn't a 3D application regardless of the way the game structure appears.

While I swore I wouldn't get caught up in yet ANOTHER Sims game (I have all Sims 3 EP's and more than that for Sims 2) besides my 'hate' for Origin - IF the Sims 4 ran in VR or at least REAL 3D, I might reverse my thinking...

Hoping someone here may have tried, or have experience with it.

Thanks!

There's a video on Youtube of someone who purports to have done it, but the people in the comments don't seem to be having much luck (and I've seen some discussion elsewhere about how videos like that could be fake stunts). If you just want to find out whether S4 works with VR before paying anything, there are ways to "demo" it (yo ho ho).

I would love to hear if you did get it to work or not. I've occasionally toyed with the idea of getting a VR headset because I keep hearing about the wonders of VR porn (and I'm a Forever Alone type, so that's probably as close as I'll get to the real thing), but I prefer something a bit more interactive, and it seems like the VR-focused sex games that are in development so far are mostly pretty primitive.

Besides the typical Fallout 4 and Skyrim use in VR with mods from this site, I have used Playhome, VR Kanojo, and MocuMocu with the Oculus successfully. Being a Sims fan has me on a quest to play on VR as the game itself runs with little input from the user, plus the customization usually exceeds that of other games since the Sims typically supports it in game, as opposed to having to set it up before hand, and then run it.

Using the 'Swap .exe' trick I even got Girlvania to run in 3D. While not perfect (visual UI/HUD tends not to line up with mouse pointer locations) it was somewhat the same as running older Illusion games at much higher resolutions.

If you got Sims to run in VR, would you be playing it in POV mode (so it's like you are a particular character), or would you stick to third person as if you're a ghostly observer, but just with a more immersive field of view? I ask because I don't really feel like the POV view looks all that good in Sims, especially when you're running a Wicked Whims animation (obviously, it wasn't designed with that in mind). I'd be worried that it would break the immersion in VR.

It would depend on the control scheme: A true VR experience may have problems accessing the UI properly, making gameplay frustrating. Using the Sexvilla game in VR is an example. While one can move the camera around properly, the UI is a mess, so you have to take off the glasses, look at the monitor to 'do' anything, then put them back on.

I actually just wanted a 3D experience, like watching a 3D movie on the BIG screen. The video you referenced shows the POV style with the headset acting as the mouse aiming reticle, so that it pretty straight forward, but not enough info to tell what UI elements may be questionable. That's another reason a 3D experience/Big screen would be more 'normal' for typical game play.

I do play the latest Tomb Raider like that. It has build in 3D, and I can get the Oculus to run it in 3D on the virtual theater mode in the headset.

You probably hear about this stuff before I do, but in case you missed it...

Well Shit! Exactly what I wanted to hear... I did miss it - so many things on my plate, but am sure that is a welcome addition for many VR/Sims fans. (maybe, just maybe Ralf will do the Sims 3)

You rock my friend!

Me too. Sims 4 is actually my favorite lewd game at this point, and I'd love to be able to play it in a more immersive way. But I don't even have VR yet, so I'm hoping we can get some stronger confirmation that it really does work.
