For the past couple days I haven't been able to load any mods, and I ended looking up and figuring out that $ signs on the mcm menu might be the issue, its also on the main menu.

Check for updates to MCM, AAF, Looksmenu & F4SE.

Sorry I'm new to all of this, but how would you check for updates like go to they're pages?

I just checked, all of them seem up to date.

The $ sing means you are missing the translation file And/Or  you have not enabled loose file's in the  Fallout4Prefs.ini.

So if I were to enable the loose filles and/or add the translation files, that might fix the problem of the mods not working?

you will need to first check:

  C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Interface

                            and make sure you have "translate_en.txt" in your INTERFACE folder or what ever language you are using.

then if all correct

C:\Users\My Name\Documents\My Games\Fallout4

You will need to make sure that you have added the following lines to the Fallout4Prefs.ini file below the section marked

[Launcher]:

bEnableFileSelection=1

You will need to add the following line in Fallout4Custom.ini:

[Archive]

bInvalidateOlderFiles=1

sResourceDataDirsFinal=

For the translation file is it a normal text document? and if so should there be anything on it like "Translate_en.txt"? also do I put it directly into the interface folder? Because I have 2 seperate things in there a folder called "Translations" and a Shockwave flash file called "MCM".

Also heres my falloutcustom notepad.

[Display]
iLocation X=0
ilocation Y=0

[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=

and the launcher thing

[Launcher]
bEnableFileSelection=1
uLastAspectRatio=1

I uninstalled all the mods except for MCM and it still does the $ thing, so the main problem might be the MCM?

Check your game version then re-download MCM

I figured it out... In MO2 I had to uncheck "Use profile specific game INI files" but now there is a dollar sign next to every option in the main menu except for mod organizer, so little victories I guess...
