Game freezes frequently ...

Sorry, I didn't want to start a new thred, but I didn't find anything, that could help.

 

The Game ran well since cristmas (occasionaly ctds or freezes, ok, but it's fallout) ... i've played the "vanilla"-game, mainly "updated" by the changes made by "Consequences", "EX", "resolutions", "fade to black" and the "tryouts".

Other mods where/are installed, but I didn't use them often.

 

I have updated consistently all mods since i began the new game on cristmas, especially "pregnancy" wich had a lot of updates.

 

But now, the game freezes very often. sometimes it works for half-an-hour or maybe longer, sometimes it freezes after a few minutes. as favourite it freezes while running (sexout)-animatons or while loading a new area. ocassionaly (just a few times) it freezes while doing nothing.

Sometimes the game can be shut-down via task-manager, sometimes I have to use the Reset-Knob.

 

Now, after reading a lot of pages and posts here, I have learned that sexout-(mod)-caused/wrong-sexout-(mod)-installed problems cause a CTD (crash-to-desktop) and not a freeze.

 

Nevertheless I have deactivated/deinstalled lots of mods, made cleansaves etc. --> the problem remains.

 

I don't want to make a cleansave without the "tryout"-mods because I don't want to loose the perks and by working hard for all the fractions all are frendly with me. (Q: does a cleansave restore this status?)

 

Now there are three suspicions:

 

First: I play the Geme with a corrupt savegame I didn't recognize a lot of saves before (As for example, when the animatons wont start, all folleowing gamesaves have the same problem). Is this possible? Cause corrupt savegames freezes? Is there a way to figure it out?

 

Second: F:NV itsself is corrupt, so I have to reinstall it. Has anyone gained expierience abut that? Do you think, it is possible, to use the old savegames, because I don't want to play the whole game again?

 

Third: The Problem is neither a sexout nor a F:NV problem. The Computer is the problem. I am using XP on a E8500 PC, HD4850-Graphic, 2GB-Ram. As found out in the Net, freezes are often caused by HDD-Problems. I have checked the HDD and defragmented it. --> No errors, nothing changes.

 

Now. Bevore I reinstall the complete game and all of it's mods, maybe start a complete new game, I just want to ask, if anyone has a sugesstion, how to solve the problem without doing that. (And maybe the problem remains after all (: )

If you suspect FNV itselff is the problem, don't re-install it, just have Steam verify the files. Try that first, see if it downloads anything, and if it doesn't then you've got a problem.

I've updated F:NV via steam - usualy I play offline.

update needed about half an hour, but it has installed some free new contend ("tribes-pack" or so).

 

Started the game and chandged the location a few times. ran around. let the PC "go to work".

everything worked fine.

should it be such an easy solution?

... for about 20 minutes.

and then, once again ... the game freezed, the music turned into a "one-second-rap-song" and I had to switch off the computer.

 

OK. One last try.

Updated SCR and Preg. Installed the new Tryout-Prison for having some fun. Loaded a very old Gamesave. Convinced the guy on the door to the prison to let me in by giving him some pleasure ...

Game freezes at the end of the animation.

OK. Last freeze seemes to be a problem with the latest SCR or Preg because its not only me, who has this problem. (SCR-Trhred)

 

But I'm so tired.

Maybe I should do something else, then playing F:NV. Until my holydays are over and i have to go back to work on monday.

If you're using the most recent SCR, that's your problem. It's broken big time. Don't use it. It'll freeze you after sex animations finish.

Thanks! As I have written, I have updated to the most recent SCR this afternoon. And I have read about the problem in the SCR-Thread, as I have written above.

This "end-of-animation-freeze" was new ... and annoying because i was hoping, i got rid of the freezes by updating F:NV via steam.

Sexout "never" causes freezes, only CTD ... and now

 

OK, one last attempt tonight ... once again searching for the most recent graphic-driver, maybe swiching down the graphic-resolution (I have read about F:NV problems in other forums, too)

 

And if the game still freezes, I'll take a book and go to bed ...

Just to be certain are we talking version 20121228.1 or version 20130102.1?

I'm not getting this problem on my PC.

The "end-of-animation-crash" was SCR 20130102.1 and PregV3 20130102.1beta. Yesterday I installed back to "Last-Year-Versions", switched back the graphics to "middle" quality (textures etc.) and tried again the new "prison-kennel".

--> OK! sexout animation run on my old PC very well ... up to eight animations same time for at least 15 or 20 minutes ... sorry, it became boring, so i went cleaning my kitchen ... but no freeze all the time.

 

I didn't ckeck any further yesterday.

 

Perhaps there is no "real" problem but the PC is at it's limit. On the other side the graphic never jiggles/ed.

What about the sexout-tokens? Somewhere (I think) I have read about that they would remain in the game. For a certain time I had the female fertility settings at 3, so any woman could get pregnant. Maybe the PC is at the limit by working with to many tokens? On the other side I made cleansaves without pregV3, so anything not needed should be deleted.

 

I will try again on WE ...

It's quite possible the number of tokens or offspring is responsible, it's something I'm not planning on limiting, but I think I'll add a warning to Pregnancy anyway. The tokens could be removed by turning off Pregnancy, saving then reloading the save with Pregnancy turned back on, but you would need to turn off SCR to remove offspring or shoot them

Hello!

 

I din't have a lot of time to play F:NV the last weeks. But - as nothing realiy helped to get rid of my "freezin problem" - today I made a cleansave without ANY SO-Mod. Subsequently I deinstalled and reinstalled all mods (except of the sexoutNG itsself, NVSE, NVSE extender, Skeleton etc. and the additional meshes etc. for SCR) and reloaded the cleansave.

While gameing for about one hour I had no freeze.

As written in a Post above, older gamesaves seemed to work with the old instalation. So I think, I got a bug in my savegame a long time ago which was caused by something in Sexout, and which stayed in every further game(save).

 

OK, it seems that I can game on now.

 

But now I have lost (exept from a lot of stuff and all SO-experience etc.) all the perks I got from the mods (especially tryout and lust). I can bring them back by console (player.addperk xxxxxx) and I can look inside GECK to get the code, but if someone has the codes already, maybe he can post them here.

I am shure I will get some problems with missing meshes etc. Because my way to resintal SNC wasn't the "cleanest" way (as written: I deinstalled, deleted and reinstalled only SCR mod and data, not the dozends of depending mods/datas/meshes which remained in the cleansave), but I think I can handle this.

 

 

Why do I write this? - Besides getting the codes without gecking

 

Because maybe someone else has the same porblem ...

... and now I can say: Yes, F:NV/Sexout can cause such "freezing-bugstates" which remain in the game and only can be solved by loading an older savegame or by doing it the way I have done.

I have similar problems but i'm not sure if it's the same reason. Starting the game with windows xp compatibility set seems to reduce the frequency of my crashes. It's about once every 1 or two hours compared to about max half an hour without the compatibility mode on windows 7.
