Missing faces.

Recommended Posts

Several of the NPCs I see are missing their faces, leaving just a floating pair of eyes and a mouth. This is really rather creepy. Whenever I try to talk to someone who is like this, as well, the camera zooms in so far I can't see anything at all. I can't seem to screencap it so I hope this description is enough. Does anyone know what is going on and how I can fix it?

Ok,

1. Try starting a new game and see if it still happens.

2. If it still is happening try archive invalidating via bsa redirection.

3. If you still have issues then it is time to look and see if you installed XeoSP++ correctly (installed XeoSP v1.0 first and then deleted some folders\files, then installed XeoSP++ and finally installed the patches).

4. If all that is correct then what version of Windows are you running and where do you have the game installed to?

1 and 2 had no success. 3 I am fairly sure I did correctly, but it has been a couple of days so I am not completely certain. Is there an easy way to check short of uninstalling everything and trying again from scratch?

As for 4, I am on Windows 7 and have it installed to C:\Games\Oblivion.

If some folks' heads are gone the very first thing I'd check is what their race is, and you should make sure if there is correct head mesh for their race. no texture, if the textures are missing their face will show up in black or purple.

*however* because you are sure that you never touched anything and installed everything correctly, probabley that's not the case. hmm..

Sometimes OBGE users experience the same missing head problem afaik.

Honestly I'd prefer deleting all (since you don't have many mods yet) the race-related mods and seeing if the problem still remains. You should make a backup before doing this, of course, although you think your current Oblivion is crappy.

Try starting a new game. If that doesn't work then it is time to get radical:

Disable ALL esm\esp files EXCEPT:

Oblivion.esm

DLCShiveringIsles.esp

Then start a new game and see if things work right. If they do then begin enabling files a few at a time (just add these files to the previously enabled ones and so on for each group).

Group 1:

Beautiful People 2ch-Ed.esm

x117race.esm

Beautiful People 2ch-Ed Disable BandBlindMask.esp

Beautiful People 2ch-Ed Sheogorath Eye.esp

Beautiful People 2ch-Ed Vanilla Race.esp

Beautiful People 2ch-Ed MS Elves - NoSc.esp

x117race.esp

http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/1815 <---install this and enable it as part of group 1. Then start a new game and see if you are working. If you are working then move to group 2.

Group 2:

Beautiful People 2ch-Ed ENG Race.esp

x117Race ENG Race.esp

Lop-ears Elf.esp

Lop-ears Elf_mini.esp

Again, start a new game and see if things work. If they do go to group 3.

Group 3:

Chanpon.esm

DiabloEF 6 in 1.esp

Again, start a new game to check things out.

Group 4:

All lovers plugins.

Aha. Following your instructions, the only mod I did not reactivate was xeosp++, and it worked fine. To test it, I reactivated xeosp++.esp and it broke it again. I must have made an error there after all.

Is there any way to fix this without just reinstalling all of xeo from scratch?

You can wing it and hope to get lucky but if you don't want to depend on luck then it is probably best to start with installing XeoSP v1 and go from there.

I wouldn't worry about uninstalling anything, just install overtop.
