New to Skyrim, what do you suggest?

Hello all,

Thanks for looking at my post! I'm relatively new to Skyrim mods and while I've completed the game without mods I know want to create a new experience.

My Pc Specs are:

- i7 3.50ghz

- 8GB RAM

- XFX GHz DD Edition Radeon HD 7970 3GB

I've played around with Oblivion and lovers before and of course a stupidly large number of mods that make characters more attractive than life - I don't know what it is about modding these games but they always bring out a darker side to me, one that I was only vaguely aware that existed.

I've been looking around and have seen links to a Japanese website that shows screencaps from their version of the game and it looks amazing.

Is there any chance you could suggest mods that would make me a happy, yet perverted young man? xD

Thanks :3

Hey welcome,

Probably it would be helpful to list your computer specs to see if your computer can take all the mods (lots of the mods is improve texture, more visual effects, enchanted blooms etc) Here is a list I would start on:

Utility/Graphics

Improved textures http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/607

-Makes the textures in the game crisp and very detailed. Downloading the entire high res pack will take up 2+ gig of space

ENB http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4142

-This is the one I use. There are many out there some to make colors more vibrant, or to make Skyrim feel darker. Pick and choose the ENB that you like.

Better Blood http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12798

-This mod gives you better blood and overall enhances the game

Sky UI http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3863

-This makes the UI more PC friendly and gives you more options when shorting out items

Climate of Tamerel http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17802

-This mod adds dynamic weather effects to Skyrim

Lanterns of Skyrim http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18916

-Along side with Climate of Tamerel and a ENB, the lanterns really pop during nights.

Water Effect http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13268

-Enhances the water effects of lakes/rivers

More Trees and Crap http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/141

-Makes Skyrim more lush and green

Footprints http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22745

Makes footprints in the snow

Body/Models

Male Body http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2488

-There isn't much male body mod. It seems everyone uses this

Female Body

-There are 2 types (there are more, but lots of modders use these 2 for their mods) either CBBE http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2666 or UNP(B)http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/14899. Really it's about your personnel preference. If you try using a UNP armor on CBBE and vise versa, you will get some funky clipping issues (or in the case of UNP using CBBE cloth you get a weird double boob line)

Other Mods You May Like:

Deadly Dragon http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3829

-Adds alot more dragons to the game everything from dragons that shout a hail storm to dragons that can resurrect an undead army.

Dance of Death http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10906

-Add many more kill moves to the game. Also gives an option to customize how frequent you want to see kill moves.

Other mods can be found here at Lovers Lab or at Skyrim Nexus, have fun.

Ya I'm sure you can play Skyrim on full blast with no problem xD Oh ya probably should get a mod manager. Currently for Skyrim there is a Nexus mod manager, but for some odd reason on my computer, it always crashes, so I have to manually install everything (I use a Fallout Mod Manager to open ups the .BSA files)

Squints' list is pretty spot-on for a solid Skyrim experience.

Still, there are other mods worth mentioning. All of these I'm throwing out there add themselves to level lists, together vastly increasing the variety of gear you'll find in the world.

Weapons

JaySuS Swords. A wide variety of weapons. Also craftable.

Weapons of the Third Era. Weapons designed after the styles found in The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind. Also craftable.

Weaponizer. New weapons based on vanilla models that blend seamlessly with the vanilla aesthetic. Also craftable.

Body-Independent Armor

Morrowind Armor for Skyrim. Morrowind-style armor. The most bare skin these show is bare arms and legs, so it will work with any female body mod because the UVs on nearly all existing female bodies are close to vanilla. Note: The upcoming DLC "Dragonborn" will add some of the armor types available in this mod, obviously with different deigns and crafting recipies. While this mod still adds more kinds armors, you may not feel it worth keeping if you purchase the DLC.

Body-Independent Accessories

Cloaks of Skyrim. Adds cloaks and capes to Skyrim, including some static rare cloaks.

Winter is Coming. Adds thick fur cloaks, hoods, and armored hoods made of bear and wolf skins.

A patch is available that makes Cloaks and Winter is Coming work together properly. Both make edits to guards, bandits, and many other NPCs to include the cloaks, so if you want to use both, the patch is necessary.

Most Importantly!

Wrye Smash. An invaluable tool for mod management. Can make patches that make all your mods work together much better, and is a must-have if you have a lot of mods that edit the leveled lists, which all the ones I suggested do. I'd recommend this over Nexus Mod Manager any day, but be warned: Wrye Smash is intimidating at first. It'll take a little getting used to, but once you learn how to make Bashed Patches and savegame profiles, you'll never want to be without it.

Really just go thru the top 25 recent top files and top 100 all time files on nexus, and grab the ones that look good to you. Then browse around LL here for all the kickass, crazy, and perverted mods you can't find elsewhere.

You absolutely need SKSE (skyrim script enhancer, lots of mods rely on it especiallt SkyUI), the Nexus Mod Manager NMM (you can zip up mods from here and use NMM for easy management, its not just for nexus mods), I use scriptdragon as well but its not really necessary.

You will want an ENB for far far better graphics (imo matso's new enb 119 setup is the best one out yet), lots of armor and weapons mods, and body and face mods. SkyUI is absolutely manditory if you dont want to hate your inventory menus, as the games UI is designed for console.

For body I prefer UNP (skinnier girls & smaller boobs, CBBE is also awesome but has a bigger chest and more filled out), for face I like envision, univision, or pretty face. Other good stuff is the Player Headtracking mod (so you look at stuff and people around you and dont just face forward).

I also replace the voices with the japanese voice files, they are around here on LL, on piratebay, or various other places. You can trick steam into dl'ing them for you too but its easier to just dl em elsewhere.

Here's the mods in my data folder, I still couldn't fit about 10 of them into 3 windows, just to show you that once you get into it you can go kinda crazy. And there are people around here that make my mod list look tame :)
