So over the past few days I've made mention of my disappointment with the new South Park game as well as my joy of being able to get two Platinum games with the refund I got from it (with money to spare) however this isn't about that this is about a conversation I had with my mate at around the same time where I said I was done with AAA games and he insisted that both Bayonetta and Vanquish are AAA games, his reasoning for it was due to the publisher's stature as well as the developers and the marketing it had (he said that Bayonetta had £1 million of marketing however I doubt that as when it came out I didn't see ANYTHING for it) and I've been telling him that they're cult classics with a small but loyal player base which you can't really get if it's a AAA game. Plus Vanquish got IGN's "best game you never played" award in 2010 which does not exactly scream "AAA" game to me. This just smells of him still being butthurt aver me not getting Destiny 2 because I disagreed with its microtransactions (he even went as far as to say that Fire Emblem Heroes wasn't even free to play since you can spend money in it) So my question(s) to you are as follows:

  1. Do you agree or disagree with my mate?
  2. Can you explain?
  3. Do you think he's being a twat?

1. I disagree with him.

2. His main argument was that because Bayonetta was published by SEGA that means its AAA, which most people would kinda disagree with. AAA to most means a bunch of cash goes into making it and marketing it, most AAA games have a huge budget around them. Now while Destiny 2's budget isn't available, Destiny 1's is and that was over 500 million (this was reporting in 2014, not sure of how true it is.) while Bayonetta 1's budget was... Well, I couldn't find sources on it, but its been passed around thats its a small budget.

Next the publisher would have to be known for more AAA titles, SEGA isn't really known for that anymore. Hell, SEGA published games were never really AAA. Plus with all the closure of SEGA offices through the years, most articles that say they aren't AAA anymore are from 2012. 2012!

3. He's probably not trying to be one, but he's coming off as one. Good choice not buying Destiny 2, heard it really isn't that good.
