Hi Everyone!
I’m trying something a little different this week. If you have the chance, please answer the poll. I’m trying to get a feel for what the readers of this blog enjoy.
Part 1
This story takes place after the events of Celena: Battle for Fort Greymoor
The Way
The Gates of Whiterun
Celena (narrating): In the few short weeks that have passed since Fort Greymoor, Whiterun has been fairly dull. The Draman, we captured in the battle is still in a coma and has not awakened. That hasn’t stopped Farengar from running tests on the beast. From our battle, he seemed intently focused on killing me. Not surprising, considering my school’s history of combating Dramen. But, the Dramen were driven to extinction in Skyrim over 1,000 years ago. I won’t let myself, nor my students, be caught off guard like that again. To that end, I’ve made some preparations.
Celena: Hi Adrianne! Were you able to complete the Gi, I commissioned?
Adrianne: Celena! Good to see you. I’ve got the Gi inside, but are you sure you don’t want something more armored? I’ve got some good pieces out here and a few more inside.
Celena: The Gi should suffice for now, It’s only for training purposes anyway.
Adrianne: Fine, let’s head inside. We’ll make any final adjustments in there.
Celena: Adrianne, you’ve really outdone yourself. It’s perfect!
Adrianne: Well, I don’t claim to be the best blacksmith in Whiterun. Eorlund Gray-Mane’s got that honor. Man’s steel is legendary. But you didn’t want steel, and I’ll be damned is that man makes a better armor set for a woman than I do!
Celena: It shows and the fit is perfect! You’ve made a repeat customer out of me.
Adrianne: Glad to have met your expectations. Now what happened to that boy that was following you around? Did he recover from his...whatever happened to him?
Celena: Oh, He’s in the Whiterun catacombs right now…But don’t worry. He’ll be on his feet in a few days.
Adrianne gives Celena a confused look.
Celena: I’d better explain...
Whiterun Catacombs
Hitomaru (meditating): The way of the Blade is found in Death. What the Hell does that mean?! Master Celena said I’d find the meaning here among the dead. But so far all I’ve found is bones, dust, and...
Felicia (screaming): PAY ATTENTION TO ME!
Hitomaru (meditating): Oh yeah, she’s here too… She never left really...Since I recovered in the temple, she’s been around. Luckily, I realized she wasn’t real fairly early on in my recovery...or else the healer might think I’ve gone insane. Now it’s just something I’ve got to ignore. Back to the matter at hand, “among the dead”...
Hitomaru: I always appreciated that Master’s lessons were practical...
Skyforge
Celena: I’m not sure who thought it was a great idea to put a Forge next to a Mead house, but I know it can’t be safe. One night of too much drinking and you’re dead...or you’re walking away with singed fur...Whoops! Shouldn’t have said that one out loud.
Celena: Hi Eorlund, do you have that piece I ordered completed?
Eorlund: It’s ready, Celena. I have to say, this was a bit of a stretch for me. Combining bones meal, void salts, netch jelly, and stalhrim chips, I felt more like an alchemist than a blacksmith. Luckily, I was able to shape it as you requested. It’s not skyforge steel, it will cut through most things without issue.
Celena: Looks like you did a good job. I’m sure he’ll love it. I’ll be back a bit later with some new requests.
Eorlund: Now if you’ll excuse me, I have work to get back too.
Hall of the Dead
Celena: Priest Andurs, thank you for letting my student train here.
Andurs: Think nothing of it, Master Celena. For generations, and Arkay knows why, your Blades have trained in this hall. I’m just happy the dead can be useful to you at all.
Celena: So how’s our student?
Andurs: He fairs, well. Most of the skeletons in there at this point are defeated. It’s almost time for you to get in there for the next stage. Just remember, the dead will continue to reanimate until I get my Amulet back. I’m powerless to stop them without it.
Celena: We’ll make sure you get it back before we’re finished.
Celena makes towards the door to the Catacombs.
Celena: See you in a few days!
Hitomaru: Ooo, Look! This one has magic. Maybe he’ll be a bit more of a challenge.
Hitomaru strikes down the skeletal mage and flourishes his sword to celebrate. Catching the blade in his hand.
Hitomaru: Not much of a challenge at all. After all, I am a man and you don’t have muscles. How are you moving anyway?
Hitomaru (playfully): Ok Mr Skeleton, what can you tell me about Death?
Celena: You should keep your guard up.
Celena swings behind Hitomaru aiming for his blade to knock it out of his hand.
Hitomaru rolls away and turns to take a swing at his master until
“CLANK!”
Hitomaru (to Himself): SHIT! The blade got stuck in the rock.
Celena: Leave it, Hito. I’ve got something for you in the next room.
Celena: This is a Tanto, or short sword, made in the Skyforge for you. Until now, you’ve trained with your long sword and are quite good with it. This weapon will take you to the next level.
Hitomaru: What? You want me to learn how to fight with a Dagger?
Celena: Correct. You’ve seen your limitations, not only your’s but your swords as well. When you slash with it in close quarters, it gets stuck. Or you have to adjust, this weakens your focus as well as your attack. This tanto doesn’t have the same limitation as your long sword, but, has drawbacks of it’s own.
Hitomaru takes a few swings with the blade.
Hitomaru: It’s faster, but I can’t defend as large of an area with it. So I have to be more precise.
Celena: Someone paid attention while they were recovering. We’ll spar in here for the next few days until you’re proficient with it. When we’re done, that sword and you will be indistinguishable. Let’s begin.
