Quest Stage One: Get a Photo Studio
I basically look at any of the screenshots taken before I downloaded the Easy Photo Studio mod I use in my game, as being dead to me. They just look wrong. This isn't saying that I exclusively like to take photos in the studio; it's because it helped me fix a specific visual issue that had been bothering me.

My problem was that no matter where I had been taking screenshots of my followers before in the game, there would be these nebulous patches of shadow present on the models that just didn't make sense.
No matter what the lighting was like in the various places I took screenshots, this hazy shadow was just "there". You might notice it in your own screenshots if you look for it.
The cause was Ambient Occlusion. Turning it off in my game's config files made a huge difference. The images below were taken in the studio.
The one on the left has visible areas of shadow along the seams of the studio wall. You can see hazing quite prominently on the inner arms, and the area around the model's lower legs.
The one on the right has been taken with Ambient Occlusion off. What you get is a much sharper, cleaner looking image that looks like it's been taken with adequate lighting.
As seen below, this isn't because shadows have been turned off - it's just that the "fake" areas of shadow have been removed from the image:
If it hadn't been for Easy Photo Studio I probably wouldn't have diagnosed my problem. Fixing that niggling element of imperfection definitely rekindled my interest in capturing more footage. I'd thoroughly recommend it if you're interested in a unique place to take photos.
The model in the pics is Iona, Housecarl of Riften, who you'll see more of in the next post.
