Blender nif export problems

This is a project to make a kinda cartoonish, semi-feral wolf girl because I have pretty specific fetishes.  Anyways, when I try to export from blender is tells me it cant because of envelope skinning.  Google hasnt been helpful to me when I search how to fix that.  also, I think the nif plugin may be broken because it wont import nifs either.  I do all the editing in blender 2.7something, i forgot the specific version, then save it as a legacy file and load it into 2.49.  im following http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/Blender asa reference for what programs and versions thereof to use.  im following thttp://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/3790/? as carefully as i can to get the imports and exports to work. if anybody knows a better method, or if some of these programs are incompatible with the method, then let me know.

anyways here's the blender legacy files, in case you want to see what's wrong or if you can export them with your own rig.  let me know wat the issue was so i can make other mods in the future without these kindsa problems.

i figured out it was because i wasnt replacing the skeleton. now i can export a nif as just the mesh without the skeleton just fine, but when i try to import a new skeleton i get an error saying the root is not a NiNode so it cant import the skeleton; it actually still imports the skeleton but it's tiny for some reason.  does anybody know how to fix that?
