Revealing Robe Edit

(amBodyRomanticRobe male to female conversion and edit)

I was this close to rename this CC as “Impossible Robe” and archive it…

Short story: my initial body edit had an excess of bone assignments and the only way to fix it was to convert it to top. In the end I’m happy with my first male to female conversion even if it’s not perfect.

Revealing Robe with breasts by CmarNYC / BarbieBoobs

Details:

  • Base game compatible
  • For youngadult and adult females
  • Enabled for naked, everyday, formalwear, sleepwear and career
  • Disabled for random sims
  • Found in the top category
  • Color channels: 4
  • Polycount: 4k something
  • LODs and morphs (except for LOD 3 that was replaced with a plain base mesh)
  • Package and sims3pack included
  • You can use lingerie bottoms and some very tight pants/shorts, anything more elaborated will clip and interfere with the textures

Defects:

  • The back bottom section has some small clipping, noticeable when walking and if you look for it. There’s also some texture stretching
  • Also you’ll notice some weirdness in CAS, occasioned by the custom internal face, in-game looks fine
  • There’s a weird spot-shadow-thing on the buttocks only noticeable when you go out, in interiors everything looks fine
  • Finally LODs gave me a lot of problems. LOD 3 was scrapped and LOD 2 barely looks passable. Because of this I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS CC IF YOU PLAY ON LOW DETAIL (this is also true for all my mesh edits)

-- Do whatever you want with this CC, just give credit --

Holy!!!

I have been waiting this kind of cloth for a long~~~ time!

Can you convert it as accessories?

Removing the the naked body and leave the robe intact.

So sims can use it whatever as sleepwear or swimwear.

And the male version too!

Glad you like it GECK.O!

Also sorry, I don't take requests.

What I can do is assist you or anybody who wants to transform this CC to accessory. Everything you need is already in the package/sims3pack. Just a warning, Sims 3 is infamous for downgrading the textures belonging to 3D accessories (the bigger they are, the worst they look), so there's a chance the final product won't look exactly as the original.

Doing the same for the male robe should be easy too, I'm attaching the original files including textures (except the overlay, trust me you don't need it for an accessory) and one called "startpoint.ms3d" this one has the robe without the body and it includes an internal face. I just recollected them from my projects folder.

Before I forget and as a sidenote:

For anyone interested there's another way to integrate a bra or bikini top to this CC, without touching the mesh.

Just copy/paste the textures, as you can see the robe main texture (multiplier) doesn't touch the chest at all:

And the majority of EA's bras are just textures painted over the torso (unless they have a 3D decoration of some sort, but I can't recall one). So using photoshop (with the .dds nvidia plug-in) or any image editor that supports .dds you can do this:

Obviously this was a "quick n' dirty" edit. Something not shown is the alpha channel you need to take care of that too, and do the same with the specular and mask. Here's how it looks in milkshape:

Using TSRWorkshop (you could also use CTU but I'm not familiar with what tool) you can integrate your bra/bikini modified textures directly into the CC or add a new variation (you should choose the barbieboobs version, unless you like pokies :P ).

@JoshQ

Can you check it for me, Making Hi-Res Accessory?

I don't install TS3 in my laptop, so I can't do anything about TS3.

To do so:

1. Delete all the sims body from your robe mesh above in Blender or Milkshape, depend on your 3D editor.

2. Import it back to TSRW and export it to sims3pack as a cloth.

3. Convert the sims3pack to package.

4. Open it using S3Pe, change the cloth category to accessory.

5. Copy to the mod folder and run the game, check the robe, see the texture is in hi-res like the original.

It's not necessary because I know the results first hand, the textures will blur. All my edits were born initially as accessories so I could avoid problems with clipping and other lazy reasons of mine, it didn't work.

You can scan the forums at modthesims and find posts like this and this (they aren't the only ones). Some people say the solution is to generate textures twice the size, some other say it's the CASP layering (?), other say it's the order you load your accessories. There's people that even say it hasn't happened to them ever  and everybody else is crazy, in short it's a mess (like most of the Sims 3 mod scene).

But even the accessories created by EA themselves have this problems (check the textures in the collars and tell me if they look like that in-game), so it's evident is related to the game engine.

I'm not trying to dishearten you and I'm very sorry if I sound like a jerk, again.

The steps you propose are correct for converting the robe into accessory, I just know for a fact that at least in my machine the textures will lose quality.

Well, from my position looks doable, the shape almost fits*:

I'm guessing the problem will be avoiding clipping on the hip/ass area. But nothing a couple of hours on blender/milkshape could fix.

*just to be clear, I'm not going to do it. I'm just saying the job is half-done :D
