Changing default portraits used by game

First time modding CK2 portraits so I wanted to know what all I need to change to achieve the following.

I want to make the male characters use female portraits, so that all characters end up with female portraits.

For this I am assuming that I need to mod some files and change a bunch of code.

 

I was thinking of going about it in two ways.

1. Change the image files in the folders so that the male files are the same as female files and remove the beard files altogether.
2. Change the portrait generating code so that even if the code says male load the female images.

 

Can anyone tell me which one I should follow? I also want to know what files to change and in which folders the are located.

So far I think I have identified the following files

• <game>/interface/portraits/*
• <game>/interface/portrait_offsets/*
• <game>/interface/portrait_properties/*

 

Is there anything else I am missing? Please let me know.

It might be as simple as identifying the male and female portraits and copying the female ones over the males in an appropriate way, ie respecting culture etc.
