Game crashes before Bethesda logo, but not always

So I've been trying to get Skyrim to work recently. I have been using the game with mods for many years now - coming back and finding new ones when I play. I like to have Sexlab and other stuff for when I have the sudden urge/for realism. For some strange reason I have been having many, many issues with getting these to work. LOOT has no red errors and the yellow ones are mostly "This needs to be cleaned." I don't believe I'm missing any required files.

Every time I open the game it comes up as black screen does one of three things:

Most often: Black screen, no mouse, I have to open task manager and type skyrim then press delete because I have no mouse and the game won't minimize.

2nd often: Top left corner shows my mouse loading but nowhere else, if I click it it prompts me with unresponsive and allows me to close it.

3rd, and has only happened once: Actually got through loading and functioned properly.

 

My computer is more than capable of handling this as I have:

Eight core 3.4 ghz processor

8G VRAM with RADEON cards (Mixed)

24G of RAM DDR3

Nothing jumps out.  Easiest thing to do is disable mods in groups of 3-4.  If everything suddenly starts working then you can narrow it down to which mod is breaking everything.  If on the other hand  you get all the way down to the base ESM's, and it's still doing it?  It's likely a broken mesh somewhere.

Every time I've tried that I come up with very weird results. It'll be best to give an example.

I go down the line trying to narrow down the problem. I come to, say, Apocalypse, Eyes of Beauty, Realistic Ragdolls, and Sofia. I disable Sofia and RR then restart. Same error. Get rid of apocalypse and Eyes of Beauty, game starts. Re-enable Apocalpyse to see if it's Eyes of Beauty causing problem. Crashes. Decide it must be Apocalypse then. Remove it, re-enable Eyes of beauty. Game crashes. Remove Eyes of Beauty, deciding it must be both. Now the game still crashes. Reinstall both then disable both to try and recreate last working instance - still crashes.

It will do this and not with just the same mods - every time I try to narrow it down I'll end up with two or three that both crash and don't crash the game.

 

I feel like I'm trying to solve Schrodingers mods here.

With it being intermittent, I can't help but think hardware or driver problems.

The game normally doesn't have problems. If I disable all mods it will run fine - and it was running fine until I added a bunch of the sexlab stuff, although I'm not blaming sexlab. I'm certain I missed something or there's a problem I'm unaware of.
