Question: How do i add custom models to Skyrim?

Recommended Posts

/wave

Alright, Lets get down to it.

Been messing around in 3dmax2012 and NifSkope editing and replacing armors. Really isn't that hard to do and i only started a few days ago.

Example

Went from:

gErSM.jpg

To:

KdjUs.jpg

Ingame View:

yLCIV.jpg

My question is Simple

How do you actually create a standalone item and not just a replacer?

Anyone mind explaining this to me because i can't seem to google it!

I know it involves making a esp file

(which i don't even know how to make)

Programs i have.

3d Studios Max 2012

Nifskope 1.1.0-RC6

Fallout Mod Manager

Creation Kit

Gimp-2.8

Also on a side note which does involve making standalone items.

Seems there are a ton free downloadable models just browsing around.

Such as

dNIM2.jpg

How would i go about making this item load in skyrim like a toy or decoration to put on tables, shelfs, etc?

Of course i would give credit where credit is do, But first i gotta figure out how to even add it ingame lol.

Any help would be appreciated.

google tutorial for

- Creatiok kit

- nifskope

- Blender

Never used blender due to the fact i could never get the nifscripts to install correctly

(Always the wrong version of this or that)

CK->item->your armour->world model.

^ Just checked it - Have to make a new nif of the armor by itself due to it loading the unp body along with the mesh (lol)

But what about the preview mesh in

dxlfT.jpg

?

Thank you for the quick reply's

I'll go ahead and edit the mesh and remove the unp body, and reposition it to lay on the ground and give it a try.

But do you happen to know how to make the Hulk model into a toy like item ingame to place on tables, shelves, etc?

-Sadface inserted-

Can't seem to get the World Model to load up my Armor Mesh

I've tried loading up just the armor without the body.

I've tried editing the dragonbonearmorgo.nif

But when i load it up in the World Model, Nothing Appears!

Any help would be appreciated.

So...

Someone suggested that i copy my nif's NiTriShapeData into the Nif that Skyrim uses.

Did that, edited the NiTriShape to read that Data

Fixed the texture to show

And it loaded up correctly in NifSkope.

But he mentioned : *might want to reshape the collision too*

and mentioned

*don't forget to updte the tangent space after pasting over as well*

But i asked what he meant by that and he never responded!

Anyone know what he meant by that?

Going to try loading it up as is and see what happens.

Link to comment

Well with what he mentioned i got it to show in my inventory!!

But now I'm running into this issue when i drop it.

dGdC3.png

Notice it's hovering in place, Well i also can't highlight it, move it, grab it to put back in my inventory, nothing.

I'm assuming this has to do with the collision and the other thing he mentioned. But he still has yet to respond.

How do i fix this!! lol I love you :heart:

Alright, With the Help of micalov over at nexus we solved the problem.

Description Preview

Now I know how to:

Edit | Replace | Make Armor Standalone | Make a Description Preview and a World Model.

Hopefully you will see some mods by me in the coming days.

Do you mind parting with your newly acquired wisdom?

Every time i have attempted a world model they end up invisible.

I can't find a good guide anywhere :(

Well it's tricky really.

Hopefully you already extracted the meshes and textures from the Skyrim - Mesh And Texture BFA files using Bsa Browser from Fallout Mod Manager somewhere on your desktop. Should have all the meshes and textures from the game in their own folders

( I named the mesh folder Meshes and the texture folder textures )

Nifskope 1 - have your armor loaded

Nifskope 2 - have a premade world mesh

(example meshes/armor/dragonbone/dragonbonearmorgo.nif)

Note: In Nifskope 2 it helps if you have Draw Nodes and Draw Havok clicked in the render option

Now in Nifskope 1 what you wanna do is click on your armor

(NiTriShape will be highlighted now in block list)

Lower that to see NiTriShapeData

With NiTriShapeData Highlighted u wanna ctrl c or rightclick/block/copy branch

Now click on Nifskope 2

Click on the armor mesh shown

(NiTriShape will be highlighted now in block list)

Lower that

You will see It already has a NiTriShapedata. With that highlighted you want to ctrl+del or rightclick/block/removebranch

Omg' date=' The Armor Disappeared!

Now what you wanna do is highlight NiTriShape again and ctrl+V or rightclick/block/pastebranch

Omg the armor Appeared (If it's missing textures you just have to reapply them thru the BSLightingShaderProperty)

But notice how the NiTriShapeData is now under NiAlphaProperty

That's because its not assigned to anything.

So click NiTriShape (aka the armor)

In block details (at the bottom of the screen)

scroll down until you see Data

Notice in value it says None, click on none and name the value to whatever the NiTriShapeData is (Mine was 10) so i put 10 as the value

Poof! Now your armor is assigned

Save As dragonbonearmorgo.nif or whatever you want to a folder

I put mine where my armor is saved in SteamApps\common\skyrim\Data\meshes\armor\xratedDpChest

Now in the Creation kit.

Load your armor esp as a active file

Go into Armor

Find your Armor

Edit your Armor

Go to Male World Preview and click edit on Armor\Dragonbone\DragonboneArmorGO.nif

Now under Model File Name Click Edit again

Find the dragonbonearmorgo.nif you just made and open it

mine was in SteamApps\common\skyrim\Data\meshes\armor\xratedDpChest

Hopefully you see your armor in the rendor window somewhere.

Save your esp.

Test it out ingame. Add the armor, try it on. see if it loaded in the description preview, then drop the item

Now if you have any problems like when you drop it from your inventory and it doesn't fall all the way to the ground, or you can't highlight the armor after it falls to the ground or u can highlight it but it's like a mile away from the armor.

Example A

You have to go back into nifskope, load up your new dragonbonearmorgo.nif right click on the armor in the rendor window, highlight transform, click edit and in translation move your armor around with xyz closer to the little box and blue wireframe looking thing (Reason we turned on Draw Nodes and Draw Havok in the render option). rotate it around a bit save. check it ingame

(the nice thing about editing it and saving is you actually dont have to close out skyrim, just lower it. edit it, save and toss it back on the ground to see the changes. and keep messing around with the trasformation in nifskope until you get it right ingame)

Now I explained this while I'm dead tired. Hopefully this helps you, But I'll be going over it later on to make sure everything i said is actually correct and hopefully you don't run into any problems (but u can try this out and let me know how it goes)

Also I'll clean this up once i make sure everything is right, because my god this is a mess lol. I might even make a pic related tutorial.

Hope this helps, if not i'll help you fix it later on.

God i hope i don't have to work today

Tutorial: How to make your own Description & World Preview of your Armor

(With Picture References!)

Programs Needed

  • Fallout Mod Manager
  • NifSkope
  • Creation Kit

Also

Basic Knowledge of how these programs work

----------------------------------------------

First off (If you haven't yet)

Load up Fallout Mod Manager - Tools - BSA Browser

Open Skyrim - Meshes Bethesda File Archive (.bsa)

Extract all to Desktop

Now Let's Begin

Today we will be using this Wedding Dress as a example.

51aa7b81.jpg

which can be found here

http://www.mediafire.com/?oqaxgxszpfd6imm

(Sadly this was just a replacer so i had to make my own standalone version)

To Learn how to make your Own Standalone Version visit

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6677/

Load up NifSkope 2 Times and place them side by side.

In NifSkope 1 (On the left) Load up Your Armor

(Example) is located in skyrim\Data\meshes\clothes\weddingdress

What you want to load is outfitf_1.nif

Important Message

(The Reason you loaded up outfitf_1 and not outfit_0 is because Skyrim is stupid and that is all i can really say. Could cause problems if you load _0.nifs)

qiXLYh.png

Now with NifSkope 2 (On the Right) we need to load a Premade World Preview

(I used the Female Bar Keeper as a Example)

which can be found in desktop\meshes\clothes\barkeeper\f

(assuming you extracted the bsa files to your desktop)

Torsognd.nif is what your looking for

I72OXh.png

Now the fun begins

:D

Go back to NifSkope 1 (On the Left)

Click on the armor in the render window

You will notice when you did that, in the Block List #1 NiTriShape was highlighted in blue.

Lower that in the Block List and you will see #2 NiTriShapeData

Click on NiTriShapeData and hit Ctrl + C or Right Click with your mouse on NiTriShapeData and a box will appear. Hover Over Block and Left Click on Copy Branch.

V7VaYh.png

Go into NifSkope 2 (On the Right)

Click on Render which is next to File View Spells and make sure Draw Nodes and Draw Havoks are clicked on.

Now...

Click on the Armor in the rendor window

Just like before #6 NiTriShape was Highlighted Blue

But this time hit Ctrl + V or Right-click your mouse on NiTriShape, hover over block and Left Click on Paste Branch.

HBOwjh.png

Now you will see A New #11 NiTriShapeData Appeared in the Block List at the bottom (Under #10 NiAlphaProperty)

Now Lower #6 NiTriShape

wait a min! I see #7 NiTriShapeData under #6 NiTriShape!

Well, that is because #7 is the model in the render window.

What you want to do now is delete #7. So Right Click on #7 NiTriShapeData hover over Block and Left Click Remove Branch

3TnDJh.png

Omg! The Armor Disappeared in the Render Window!!!

Don't panic. That is because no data is assigned to #6 NiTriShape.

Ok, Now we Click on #6 NiTriShape in the Block List.

At the bottom of NifSkope You will Notice Block Details.

Scroll thru Block Details until you see Data and Click it.

(Please Make Sure #6 NiTriShape is still highlighted in blue)

You will notice for the Value it says: None. Lets change that!

Double Click on Value and Type in 10 (10 is the number of the new NiTriShapeData we put in) and hit Enter.

tfV8Mh.png

*Poof* Your Armor Should of Appeared in the Render Window!

Now lets assign some textures.

In Block List Lower #7 BSLightingShaderProperty and you will see #8 BSShaderTextureSet. Click #8

In Block Details (At the Bottom) Lower Textures. Apply Your Textures

Example's Textures are located in skyrim\Data\textures\clothes\Naihaan\Arwen\WB

gT6rph.png

Shoot..

While were at it Let's Rename it so it's not called BarKeeperFGND

Click on #0 BSFadeNode in the Block List and look at Block Details.

Double Click Value txt BarKeeprFGND [0] and Rename it to whatever. example xWD and hit ok
