[CLOSED] Seeking an artist for a CoC-like game

      We’re posting another advertisement for an artist, because the last choice turned out to be …squeamish, let’s say.

      We are developing the spiritual successor to Corruption of Champions, so we need an artist for both characters and monsters, but if you specialize in just characters, that’s okay too.  As said artist, there’s no requirement to draw hardcore porn, just sexy characters in fun costumes, and sometimes some boobies—big and small—or the implication of “maleness” in a bulge or down a trouser leg.  And while the images aren’t really porn, they’re NSFW, as they have pornographic implications, obviously.  This project is super fun, and we keep the atmosphere casual, but you will be required to meet a quota.  Part of the problem with the last artist was the lack of timely production.  She was juggling our project with a bunch of other commission work, which would’ve been fine if she’d managed to produce more than one image per month.

      As everybody knows, art assets can make or break a game, not unlike the programming itself, so the accepted applicant would be rewarded with installments of 50 USD a few times a month depending on productivity (up to once weekly).  We know it’s a pittance, but we’re indie, and that’s literally all we can afford, so this isn’t the best position for someone who needs big money.  I’ve been authorized to say we will be offering a percent of the upcoming Patreon to the selected candidate, which could mean big money, eventually.  So there’s that. 

      But if it’s a sense of community you’re looking for, look no further.  We’re adventurous and deviant in the best ways.  If you have a fetish, chances are one of us is into it.  For a list of fetishes to be included in the game, and to learn more about the project founder, m0RV, please visit the blog.  It’s still under construction, but should have a big update soon.  The fetishes can be found under the heading “The Advent”.

So, here’s a list of requirements for interested parties.

 

• Must be 18+
• Must not be squeamish
• Must have a semi-realistic or painterly style
• Must be available for 10+ hours of work per week
• Must not be annoyed by paint-overs, since m0RV loves to fiddle with a first draft

 

Bonuses.

 

• Artistic flexibility
• The capacity to imitate other artists’ styles
• A love of fictional lewdness
• The desire to RP (this is a good way to learn about the world we’re building and to become invested in the project)

 

Things you should know.

 

• This is a passion project, first and foremost, so if this is means to an end for you, don’t apply
• This won’t be easy, but it will be fun, and a worthwhile investment, I believe

why not just write it and do art later? coc didnt have image packs until later and its was still good and i think not doing art would save alot of time to work on the actual game.

Spoken like a futa-lover.    But I agree with you.  m0RV has had some problems with people being annoyed by that.  I used to like futas myself, until I had a look at some of the concept art for this game ...  Some of the "guys" are just flat-chested futas, basically.  To paraphrase a friend of mine, futas are a mask for latent gay desires, for people who want a dick to play with but aren't attracted to the male form, i.e., 99% of the male population of Earth, no matter how straight IRL.  It's a weird distinction to make, boobs -or- dick with no combinations of the two, but I think I like it better that way.  Less confusing  ... barely.

 

And regarding your earlier comment, the programming is the real cause of delay.  I wish we had more help on that front.  No one seems to have the time to just power through it.  So far we have a stub of a Ren'Py build that just idling there as the programmers are busy with other things.  (Most of the story / choices / locations / monsters / special characters are already made in writing form.)  If you know anybody competent with Ren'Py tell them to email m0RV!  We could use the help.

Best to keep theories of "latent gay desires" to one's self. Also, i agree with Daedal Dolphin that without futa or a female option, you shouldn't really say "spiritual successor to Corruption of Champions" because CoC had both of those things even back when it was "Unnamed text game" iirc. Its a game that focused on player transformation of form and sex. From your description, it sounds like you are making something different.

Not intended as a bash or even a theory, just an observation.  Sorry if it reads too harshly.  And you may be right about the game not being exactly like CoC, but many spiritual successors stray from the inspiration's formula a tad.  I know it doesn't seem especially similar right now, but it was inspired by the game and holds to many of the same concepts.  And I'm sure "female" mode will be adopted eventually.  But I get why it was suspended.  Doing so halves the writing workload.  And I, for one, would like to see the game sooner than later.

 

Maybe the game's growing into something else entirely?  Who knows.  Only the first demo can tell for sure.

Hey there, already sent an email to the address above before your last post, but basically I'm a 2D and 3D game artist. Doing my master's in game development at the moment and due to the way the course is structured I have lots of free time at home after university is done for the day. 

 

I've described some of my skills in the email, but I just want to add that I am more than capable of doing 2D/3D backgrounds and creating seamless textures. Bit of a jack of all trades, world building technical artist.
