Animations won't play correctly after registering with SLAL

[i have been reading the pinned threads over and over, but for the life of me I can't figure out if this belongs to SexLab Framework Tech Support or to Skyrim Tech Support, or if the inclusion of the load order is absolutely required or frowned upon. So I just took a deep breath and dived in.]

 

 

I verified that sex animations were playing correctly (as they had been for a long time).

 

Then I turned on SL Animation Loader and Jcontainers, ran LOOT and FNIS and launched a new game with COC Whiterun. SLAL showed duly up in the MCM. Sex animations were playing correctly.

 

I exited the game and turned on Arrok Animation Pack. Again, I ran FNIS and launched a new game with COC Whiterun. I installed SexLab and registered the three new animations. They were displayed in the SexLab animation list as they were supposed to.

 

However, when I marked a female NPC with N and initiated sex through MCM > SexLab > Animation Editor > Play Animation, the animations no longer displayed correctly. In the animation "Missionary", the woman was in the correct position making the correct movements, but the male PC was standing and not moving. In the first one of the SLAL-added animations, the woman was, again,  displayed correctly, but the man was lying down at some distance and not moving. (Please ask if you want to see the screenshots.)

 

This error has consistently occurred during my repeated attempts to register new animations with SLAL in the recent months, with different mod configurations. I repeated this experiment today only to get a Papyrus log which I could post here.

 

It is highly unlikely that SLAL, being a widely used mod, is flawed. Therefore, I must be doing something wrong. What might it be?

 

I have been searching high and low and haven't been able to find the answer. Any of your ideas would be much appreciated.

Animation Troubleshooting:

1. in my opinion, Mod Managers should be avoided like the plague.
but if you insist on using one, try setting it to manual install. most of the PM's i get are from people using Mod Managers that installed files to the wrong location, this includes (but is not at all limited to) "Mod Organizer".

2. run/rerun the GenerateFNISforUsers.exe, if you don't the animations wont work/run.
C:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Skyrim\Data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users\GenerateFNISforUsers.exe
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Skyrim\Data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users\GenerateFNISforUsers.exe
WARNING: Windows (Vista/7/8/10) Security may interfere with updating/overwriting the FNIS behavior files.
you may not even get a error message telling you that this has happened.

3. when you start the game with the Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) loader the list of installed mods wont get refreshed, so if you install a mod and just start the game with the loader any new mods you installed wont be fully activated. to fix this problem go to the skyrim launcher and click on "DATA FILES" and it will refresh the list of installed mods, you can now close the launcher and start the game with the skse loader.

4. in game you need to go inside SexLab's Mod Control Menu (MCM) and click on "install" first before you can use SexLab.

5. make sure you have "Allow Creature Animation" checked in SexLab's MCM settings.

6. turn off "Match Creature Gender" in sexlab's MCM settings, if this setting is enabled some animations won't play, its because most creatures don't have female counterparts in skyrim by default, and SLAL lacks a unisex option for animations.

7. did you forget to install the FNIS Creature Pack? install it and rerun the GenerateFNISforUsers.exe, then do steps 5 & 8

8. go to SexLab's or Animation Loader's MCM menu and click on rebuild animation registry, unpause the game and Wait a Minute for the registry to reset, then re-enable the animations in the Animation Loader and make sure you click on the add to registry button.

9. if all else fails, try loading a older save file from before sexlab was installed.

Is this occurring even when the FNIS executive runs with administrator rights and MO has been installed outside Program Files?

 

Is there a way to get alerted when it happens?

 

Is there a way to find out afterwards if this has happened?

I did it. Nothing changed. That is, in the Missionary animation, the woman is still in the correct position, moving, and the man is standing and not moving.
