herdustisverypretty Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 So this randomly started happening a few months ago, Nate would start talking and then when it was Nora's turn to cut in, she doesn't say anything, and then the two characters just stand in front of the mirror for eternity without taking me to the character customization menu. I was hoping someone might have an idea at what is causing this before I do the good old 'uninstall one mod at a time' because I have a fair amount of plugins and that would just be really annoying. (that's another problem I have to ask about actually, I can't install that mod). And since I haven't played in months I probably have to update a lot of things still (NMM doesn't tell me when a mod needs updating isn't that nice of it?) I am a stressed mouse and need someone to help me.
RitualClarity Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 First verify the game Cache. If you haven't changed anything recently and it just "happened" then it is likely some file got messed up. Make sure if you have mods the F4SE is updated as well. Finally you have a SHIT TON of mods. It is very possible that something as simple as overloading the game. Not sure though haven't had any real world feedback on the soft "plugin limit" that Fallout 4 has. (reference Fallout NV or even Skyrim limits ) This has nothing to do with the physical limitations of the game but the realistic limits of your computer and the game. So unless someone can chime in with a conflict I'd state try removing some mods and get yourself down 10 at a time or so until you are able to get Nora to stop hogging the mirror and the game to work. Then add a few essentials and see if it works again. If you start getting pretty low in the # and still don't work then it is a conflict (120 or so plugins) Sorry it is likely hard work unless someone here can see a conflict

Oh well. I have plenty of free time. Lmao I have way more mods than this for old Skyrim, but I am surprised this is the first FO4 bug I've had. I was expecting CTDs, not... whatever this is. Well thanks for the advice, regardless. If/when I figure out what mod(s) is causing the issue, I'll post it here in case anyone else has this problem at some point.
RitualClarity Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Lmao I have way more mods than this for old Skyrim, but I am surprised this is the first FO4 bug I've had. I was expecting CTDs, not... whatever this is. Mods aren't the only thing that can stress the game. I have had way more than the 125~160 mods in Fallout NV that people said wasn't going to run and it ran just fine. The issue is the content of the mods. The act of creating mods is the act of actually breaking the game to a degree. It is adding content or changing it. Both makes the computer and game engine work more than it does for a plain game. Now that is however strange that you have more in one game (32bit) and can't get higher in Fallout 4. It might just be a conflict Hopfully someone can help with the conflict. Something that might effect the start is likely the issue. Do we have the xEdit version for Fallout 4? Perhaps check that to see anything that has effects for Nate and Nora or anything that is changing the cell with the mirror. That however is some hard stuff to do however. Might be easier to just remove and tweak the game mods first. You can if you want backup what you have and uninstall all the mods and then add the most essential ones first. Perhaps the textures and such then heavier ones and test every two or three mods to see if the mirror scene is effected. MIght be faster. You can clean up and update the system as you go. you will still have the mods downloaded so it would realyonly be the time to install the mods and start up the game to see if there is an issue. I point this option out as you can after you uninstall all the mods go in and clean up the loose files (NMM has that option as well so I hear) but make sure to check manually. Any loose files or file in doubt delete. Then verify cache, start the game and go through the mirror scene to be sure you have a nice base to work with. Then do the above. There could also be some file stuck or left over as well that is messing with things. Good luck

I shall try this then. Thanks for the help.
Rebel Marauder Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Just my 2 cents here but irregardless of Mod Authors requests and demands I always place Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch immediately after the DLC and before any other mods, against LOOT's judgement, it's just how I've been hardwired to do so since FO3 days. Also note you have a Def_Inv.esp mod, which in my experience is linked to Def UI unless you have a copy from before they were merged into 1 file, if that's the case I seriously recommend you upgrade your mods since half the earlier versions are now vastly incompatible with each other since the new versions of Fallout 4 have been dropping. However if you have SKE (Settlement Keywords Expanded) then you would need to drop the Homemaker - Streetlights Use Passive Power.esp As for this -[ SatelliteWorldMap.esp ]- but wonder which Satellite World map it's from, although given it's got an esp chances are it's from the old one which was a little buggy in places. Other than what I have mentioned above I can only echo what RC has said, run it through XEdit and see what conflicts and where, failing that check the mod pages of each mod for the version you have, see if there's been any significant updates or fixes that would benefit you in any way, shape or form

So not-updated mods isn't the issue with this problem (though I'm sure it'll cause me other issues). My game was doing this in April but I never got around to dealing with it since I already had an existing game, and I had a save right before leaving the vault so I could remake my character, tho I was playing as a male then but I want to make a female character now, and well. Can't do that lol. I started updating everything yesterday so maybe that'll fix it (the mod(s) causing it may have been fixed with new updates?). One can hope. Yeah the satellite map is old, Gopher covered it but I've seen there's now a new one out that seems better so I'll have to get that. Haaaaaa I've just had so many problems with Beth games and mods lately. I want to cry. Thanks for the advice. I will continue to try to resolve this issue when I have the emotional strength for it after a very long sleep haha.

herdustisverypretty Posted December 9, 2016 Author Posted December 9, 2016 Figured it out. It was the quest mod Gone Feral. No idea why it would be affecting the mirror scene at the start but there you go. I'll have to check the mod page and maybe message the author. :/ Weird.
