Anatriax Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I need an articulated female skeleton and body mesh. Weighted for physics would be nice, but not mandatory. Files must be in .FBX format. Contributions to my project will be fully noted and credited. Thanks ahead of time!
Morra Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 You can use the new Genesis 3 from Daz Rig and the Mesh that comes with it. It was already tested in Unity engine and it's working good.
Anatriax Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 I'm using UE4, though. Not Unity... and I've read that there are issues importing them. I'll keep plugging a way at it, though
Morra Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I'm using UE4, though. Not Unity... and I've read that there are issues importing them. I'll keep plugging a way at it, though I didn't see any issues importing it. Granted, I used it only in 3D Max and from what I saw I can tell that it was made with 3D engines support in mind. There are some people on Daz forums that tested it in Unreal environment too.
Anatriax Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 Yeah, I'm watching a tutorial now on how to use Daz to get procedural character building in UE4. So that's probably what will happen.
Anatriax Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 Alright, so. I have Daz 3D, Blender, and UE4. I'm purchased the Genesis 3 set. EVERY TIME I go to export as .FBX this is what I get, no matter what program I use to open the .fbx I've watched every tutorial video I can find on exporting .fbx from Daz, and I always get the same response.
Anatriax Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 Any program the fbx is exported to comes out like this.
Anatriax Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 I've followed several tutorials on youtube, and no matter what they tell me to put settings at, I get this problemIt's something to do with the skeleton. I've narrowed it down that much. Perhaps I should hop over to the Daz 3d forums and make a post
Morra Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I don't think it has something to do with skeleton. I think the problem is the FBX exporter itself. And when you try to import the mesh in Unreal it triangulates the mesh and distorts it.
Anatriax Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 It's not just unreal that does it, though. 3ds max and blender are doing it, too.
Morra Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Like I said it's a problem with FBX exporter not Unreal.
Anatriax Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 Do you think it's a settings issue? or just the exporter as a whole? Give me a few, and I'll post a screenie of my settings.
Morra Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I thinks it has something to do with Preserving turned Edges. If you have 3D Max, try this solution.
Anatriax Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 I don't have it yet, I'm working on it, though. I have incredibly slow internet, and 6.1gb is a lot! lol
Anatriax Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 Are you sure? This really looks like a skeleton/bone problem. I know that I'm new to 3d modeling? But when I can look at the bones in Daz, see where they're placed and what they look like, and see the exact same things distorted in other programs after export? not to mention, in Blender whenever I try to move the figure around, it gets distorted... kind of like a character in Skyrim does if the .hkx skeleton is overwritten.
Anatriax Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 According to the people on Daz it is an export issue. Apparently the newest build of Daz (which I have because I downloaded it like 3 days ago) has all kinds of bugs with exporting .fbx.
Morra Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 As I said, but they will fix it. As you can see I don't have any problems in 3D Max.
Anatriax Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 Yeah, I'm patiently waiting for it to download :/ 1mb/s down is not very conducive to trying to download software. lmao
Anatriax Posted June 26, 2015 Author Posted June 26, 2015 Alright. 3DS Max did the trick. Everything is perfectly fine in UE4 now. Now all I have to do is make animations. Ugh.
Anatriax Posted June 26, 2015 Author Posted June 26, 2015 Correction: I have blocky meshes in UE4. I've converted to poly and turned on Turbo Smooth. Any ideas?
