Blender - Making Animations - Need help and tutorial?

Okay, so I've decided to try and make myself useful for a chance and give animations a try.

 

Only problem is, I haven't a clue where to start. I googled FNW animations + tutorial and got a load of references to blender. I googled FNV Blender tutorials, and came back empty handed.

 

So I am wondering if any more experienced members with knowledge of making FNV animations could tutor me or give me a hand with this. I don't know what Blender is (aside that it is a freeware 3d program) and no idea how it can be used to make Fallout models - I thought this was something you did only with GECK?

 

So if anyone is willing to help me or point me in the right direction, I would be much obliged. I realise I'm a total noob at this, but we all have to start somewhere and it is a small way for me to *try* and contribute to the community.
