Identifying nakedness

Trying to figure out a good way of identifying when an actor is naked.  Preferably, whatever method is employed by Skyrim natively whenever NPCs comment on it.  (I've already dipped my toe in that one.  While I found the quest responsible for the dialogue, I could not ascertain the particular conditions which signal nakedness.)

 

Checking armor slots every X seconds would work in theory, but it would be both slow and subject to the latency of the loop.  I'm basically hoping that the built-in method alluded to above is more convenient.
