Stranger Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 There are no reflections, or caustics, unlike outdoors. I am not sure, but i think i had those awesome effects few years ago. I checked water with vanilla rendering in an alied ruin and it also did not react to dynamic lights or have reflections. So, is it some issue in my game, or was it my imagination? LW version is 21rc4 with installer. And i tried using unique water settings for certain cell, but with no result.
varenne Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Post your exact test location and I can check my current in-game results. I may not respond back immediately as work is trumping much these days.
varenne Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Here's what I'm seeing in-game (see below). Make note that this is a low light area, with some targeted high light spots. So certain parts of that pool are dark, while others are sort of dimly lit. I am seeing OBGE surface affects so I have to assume it is working as intended for me. Besides the OBGE related ini settings, you also need to check your Oblivion ini and video card settings too. I have a game profile for Oblivion for my video card that overrides or forces some of the default Oblivion settings and limits. As an additional reference here is what it looks like in-game outdoors at 2:30PM and 11:30PM if I use the console command to set weather(fw) to Clear(38eee). 2:30PM 11:30PM
Stranger Posted December 10, 2014 Author Posted December 10, 2014 I have similar water look, but less transparant. Can you test how water at Canosel react with light spell or torch? I belive, i saw water caustics with light reflections on near walls in some ayleid ruin. Something like that:
movomo Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Interior water does not reflect fancy things.

Back to back meetings for most of the morning and afternoon today. UPDATE: Well I tried and don't see it as even remotely possible indoors, as movomo already noted. So maybe you accidentally (or intentionally?) ate some magic mushrooms or really good cannabis and experienced mass lighting hallucinations?
Stranger Posted December 16, 2014 Author Posted December 16, 2014 I found the location, where i think seeing those effects, for experimentations. Tests of few previous LW versions are also negative. Heh, still can't say, was it true, or i was drunk or something else, considering, that LW readme doesn't say about caustics effects are being visible only at outdoors. Thanks for reply anyway.
varenne Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 I'd still look over you video card settings and see if tweaks there provide the desired results. I don't run mine with certain features (HDR) for Oblivion as it produces less than desirable results, IMO.
Stranger Posted December 16, 2014 Author Posted December 16, 2014 I am using HDR, All Natural real lights, darker dungeons from Maskars Overhaul, all water reflections are enabled. Also i couldn't find any Oblivion screenshot, proving my beliefs. Gonna stop digging around until anyone can confirm it.
varenne Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 The main issue with lighting effects in Oblivion, but especially interiors is they are hard coded. So that makes adding new effects that much harder. Personally, I just don't see Oblivion achieving high-end effects on such old tech; you cannot reach light-speed with a impulse powered engine.
