Having an issue with the "Reticle Change For Arrows" INI Tweak.

So, I'm sure many of you know this INI Tweak well, and what it does....

f1PArrowTiltUpAngle=0.7
f3PArrowTiltUpAngle=0.7
f1PBoltTiltUpAngle=0.7
f3PBoltTiltUpAngle=0.7

And I've seen many people reccommending it. However, from personal experience, I would have said "DON'T USE". Because while it may have "fixed my reticule", it also made it completely impossible to hit anything at close-medium range (think less than 100 feet, and the tweak is said to make your arrow aim on target AT 100 feet) no matter how I adjust for ballistic trajectory, arrow drop, leading fire, etc. Aim up, aim down, nothing hits even a large target like a Sabrecat unless I am less than ~15 feet away. And before you ask, yes, I DO have the navmesh arrow tweak...

[Actor]
fVisibleNavmeshMoveDist=12288.0000

So is it just my particular game/PC, or is this a legitamate rare issue? I had to remove the arrow aiming reticule tweak because adding it broke archery even worse than it was without either of these mentioned adjustments. At the very least without it I can learn how high or low to aim at relative given distances....

I've been playing with these tweaks for over a year and have not encountered any of the issues you're experiencing.

Have you added them to the correct ini file? Have you put then under the correct header?

Here is what mine looks like placed at the bottom if the Skyrim.ini file.

[Combat]
fMagnetismStrafeHeadingMult=0.0
fMagnetismLookingMult=0.0
f1PArrowTiltUpAngle=0.7
f3PArrowTiltUpAngle=0.7
f1PBoltTiltUpAngle=0.7
f3PBoltTiltUpAngle=0.7

Perhaps the missing first 2 'magnetism' lines is causing you problems?

Yeah that's mine too, from STEP.

I've never had that problem. I just wish I could find a way to be able to fire off an arrow from behind a rock and it not come back at me due to a nav mesh the size of Gibralta

No, I don't have those...what exactly do they do?

And yes, I added them under [Combat] and into the Skyrim.ini

EDIT: Apparently I do have the two fMagnetism strings.

Any update on this thread? My arrows go too high and a bit to the left (I'm testing by shooting at walls from medium-to-long range).

Even a value of f3PArrowTiltUpAngle=-1.0 is still a bit high at medium-to-long range. And more annoyingly, arrows go to the left (is that fixable since there's no ini value for that?)

I already use ABT. I also used to use ProperAiming but uninstalled it b/c it uses autoaim to function, and I got tired of accidentally shooting my allies.

I re-installed ProperAiming to test, but it doesn't fix the aim when you are shooting at walls, so that convinces me it functions purely based on autoaim (it doesn't do any additional tweaks). ProperAiming works fine when you are shooting at a NPC or target dummy and you are close enough for autoaim to catch.

But the whole reason I uninstalled it was b/c the autoaim sometimes caused me to shoot allies.

That's weird

I dont have autoaim of any kind and always goes the center of my crosshair even long ranges be that wall, tree branch or mob of friendly and hostile npc (and only hit hostiles)

Oh and doesn't matter if im firing 1st person, 3rd person camera and or crouched

Even at very long distances?

At short ranges (any of the training environments in Whiterun or Solitude), I can hit the targets just fine, but as the distance increases, the arrow will go farther above my crosshair.

For the long ranges I'm testing at, NPCs are about 2.5 the size of the inner crosshair (unzoomed).

I use ABT and Customizable Camera. I used to use Proper Aiming but removed it b/c it uses autoaiming to work.

I also have the ini edits based on the arrow speed option I'm using in ABT (+100% speed).

To continue from my previous comment, you showed your screenshots of long range shots, but those were from first person. Does that work for you in third person too?

From my older post "Oh and doesn't matter if im firing 1st person, 3rd person camera and or crouched" arrow goes center of my crosshair

my ABT (+75% speed)

Here is third person shot (same npc victim like the 3rd picture)

She has rather large "assets" like all females in my game :blush:
