AI Overload

So I am having a huuge problem with AI overload. No matter what I do the AI of npc's fail to function right. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Well, nothing in your PC or load order jumps out as a red flag.

 

So let's try some other things:

1. In your bashed patch you can choose how many ai packages to enable at once - try rebuilding your patch with a higher number enabled (I think it is under the tweaks part). Note: pick a number too high and your pc will slow to a crawl and/or CTD.

2. Do you have the 4GB patch enabled and are you running stuff like OSR, Streamline and Game Companion? These can help boos performance so as to allow you to enable more npc's and not take to great a hit on your FPS.

3. If the bashed patch tweak doesn't work (you may need a clean save for it to kick in) then you can try: http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8158 pick one of the esp files and put it just below your bashed patch so it is not overwritten.

If you haven't TES4Edit cleaned some of the mods you might want to give that a try as well as BOSS for non LL mods(looks like you're using BOSS but can't say for sure).

 

It also might help to have Frans not merged into one file (at least it does for a full FCOM set up which you don't have here, so up to you).

 

There's also a Choices and Consequences for OOO out which may help out with conflicts between those two mods.

The big problem is that the 6 CPU's are not going to be much help. Oblivion pretty much only uses one. You can make some ini tweaks to allow a few things to use multi-threading, but I'm not sure how much that helps. You've got a pretty massive load list with a lot of different companion systems and other script-heavy stuff. You may have to take a good look through it sometime and disable some stuff you don't really use all that much. You can also try some other simple things like reduce the draw distance slider for inventory objects (as you don't really HAVE to see that apple from five miles off). Following Gregathit's advice is probably going to help, I can tell from personal experience. But keep Oblivion's limitations in mind.

Ok so I've tried them all out but i still have no success whatsoever...ugh does this mean I have to reinstall Oblivion all over again?

I seriously doubt reinstalling will do anything for you.

They will help your memory management and purging. Read the readme.txt for each and tweak so you can get the most from each.

 

As the wise EvenstarGW has pointed out Oblivion is a CPU driven game so that will be the bottleneck.

ok I added streamline, osr, used the 4gb patch removed some companion mods and some heavy scripted mods as well as cleaned most of them with tesedit...well now they walk around and stuff but they wont talk to each other and some just stand cluttered in groups and stuff hmmm it seems like nothing is working at all

Is this with a saved game or starting a new game? If a saved game then fire up a new one just to test. Sometimes a bunch of crap can get hung up in saved games.

Yay!! It's fixed just as was mentioned before I had way too many scripts running..so I had to do what I hate doing the most and that is removing mods but it is a small price to pay in order to have my oblivion actually have life thanks for the help guys.
