CTD Party Near Windhelm

[Smokermegadrive]

As the title says i get a constant amount of ctd in the area near windhelm

Fast travelling from windhelm to windhelm stable is always a ctd
and walking in the area happen the same after some minutes, even exiting from the docks or entering the cell

I tried removing mods, remove some scripts, cleaning mods and start a new game, but nothing seems to work

I Have a very shitty rig, but the game worked fine until today:

Cpu: Intel Celeron G530 2.40 GHz x2
Ram: 2 GB
Gpu: Intel HD Graphics 3000

I don't use any ENB or retexture on the windhelm area

any help is apreciated

Edit: well fast travelling to another cell seems to work fine with no ctd, but i still want to fix this if i really need to go to this cell

Moonlight Tales is working pretty hard to get its functions working with your current load.

That does not necessarily mean that this mod is the problem.  I personally use it with no problems.

 

Although skyrim can support 256 mods as a hard cap...  Loading scripted mods beyond the 7F range has been problematical in the past.

Papyrus references these mods as a negative number. Because of this, some script functions may not work properly.

I do not know if these issues with papyrus have been addressed since I last read about this particular limitation.

 

Putting pressure on papyrus can also cause these kind of issues on low end rigs.  Mods such as Player headtracking, and moonlight tales produce really cool things in your game.  But these cool effects require resources that when stacked on top of one another.. can make your game unstable if your PC cannot handle it.

 

You could possibly be stacking too many high demanding mods for your rig to handle them.  Although you do not use ENB, video card issues are not the only problems that lead to lag and crash to desktop.  You must also worry about your CPU, core temperatures,  as well as the limitations of skyrims papyrus script system.

 

Testing game stability by removing mods from a game in progress will produce inconclusive results as well.  Scripts remain orphaned in your save file even without their parent mod loaded ( or even on your hard drive for that matter).   

 

If your stability issue is always around windhelm,  you can try to use Alternate Start (Already in your load order)  to load at a nearby inn and test stability with a "NEW GAME" that way.  And by new I mean new from the very start...  not from a save file at the beginning.  Remove all your mods and prioritize the ones you want to play with the most.  Test stability.. if all is well, you can add to your mod load this way.   You do not need to load everything from the start.. and it is not advised to remove ANY once you have started them.

 

So a good rule of thumb.. do not load what you will not use until you need it (unless the author specifies that you should).    For example, maybe it is best not to load Falskaar at the start of your game until you feel your character wants to embark on that quest.   Once you hit his recommended level (I think it was 20)  you can create a save file.. then load it.  If that leads to issues you always have a bookmark that you can roll back to.

 

If you feel that your rig is crap.. then perhaps you should try to put FAR less of a load on it than what you have now.  Try to reduce your number of mods to 25% of what you have now.  Prioritize your favorites.  If you then feel you can handle more..  add more later.

 

EDIT: Note!  You have convenient horses in your load order as well.  They have included a handy script pinging tool in their MCM.   Run the script latency function in that mods MCM to check your latency (I think it was the second or third option on the left side).   It should be pretty well below 100.    You can use this to guage if what I am describing is your potential problem.

Well i actually reinstalled the game because i lost most of my save and the game started to crash in the whiterun stable as well, so i have nothing to lose at all (except some mods maybe)

Anyway those advise will be useful in the future, and yes i used to had a load of mods that i never used or i was waiting to start to use, maybe i will take your advise to activate when i need it, and try to avoid some script intensive mod

other thing that i noticed is when i try to open some mods menus in mcm after playing for a while result in ctd most of the time (except for very fews) maybe im overloading the game or this pc

Smoke since you are starting fresh.  Consider using mod organizer this time around to have a bit more control over your load order.   It is highly beneficial when using such a large number of mods.

 

When you mod that heavily, it is also beneficial to use a guide such as the step project. http://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.7

NOTE:  I do not agree with all their modification recommendations beyond section 2F..  at this stage you should try to stick to what you know and desire over what they suggest.

Dont see unofficial skyrim patch which also is essential also i find out for example skyrim bigger trees couses CTD for me i removed them and gone CDT but it also has to do with what kind mods installed prolly.

 

You prolly also surpass the limited of 3.1gb installed mods you just cant install more or imment CDT will happen nomatter what.
