[Help] Identifying the mod and repairing the letters

"Broken letters".

How do I repair these letters? I see that all standard Oblivion races have descriptions such as these, some mod(s) must ha(s)ve overwritten them.

 

I installed some mod and it changed the music in the game a bit and I don't like it.

The culprit for the race descriptions is most likely MBP. To be certain, you could use Tes4Edit to see all mods changing the race description lined up neatly. You could even use this to fix the problem, by just dragging the race description from Oblivion.esm over the one in MBP's column. That should repair it.

 

As for the music, I don't know. But it seems to have overwritten your title music so you might have to get the original back from the disk or find something you do like and replace it. Title music should be in data\music\special.

Okay. I fortunately had backup folder of the clean game without mods and managed to replace the title music from main menu. Thanks.

 

Could you please explain me step by step how to:

 

use Tes4Edit to see all mods changing the race description lined up neatly. You could even use this to fix the problem, by just dragging the race description from Oblivion.esm over the one in MBP's column. That should repair it.

 

I know how to use Tes4Edit only to clean mods.

Start up Tes4Edit, it should automatically have your current load order selected, so let it load the whole thing.

 

On the left hand you should see a tree with all the mods. Expand the MBP esm, then the Race subsection. Select a race and on the right hand you get a column for each mod that alters the race. There will be an entry for the race description, and in the MBP column, you should see your funky text.

 

In this view, you can copy paste or drag and drop the text from the description in Oblivion.esm's column and paste it into MBP. It will come up with a warning screen, which you can just accept. Do the same for every race. You can save the changes with ctrl+s, or just close the program and it will ask to save.

 

Afterwards make sure MBP is in the correct place in your load order again.

First I am going to have to uninstall bash patch. Know any idea how to uninstall it? I always seemed to need only to rebuild the patch again...

you know, why do you bother with that exactly? i mean, like "the description" of your race really means something ingame, you should have read it a bazillion times while you played un-modded, so why do you bother now? it is in japanese(gibberish) just there, everything else is in english (and of course there is an .esp that makes everything back to english), on my side, as soon as i see gibberish on one race it means they got extra hair and got extra pretty, if i don't see gibberish on a certain race i know they are still the DULL ones i had before

zelazko, you don't need to uninstall a bashed patch. It is fine to simply rebuild it. If you feel strongly that it would help you somehow then just delete it and you can go to oblivion\Mopy\templates\ and grab an empty bashed patch and copy it to your oblivion\data\ folder and start fresh.
