Death Stranding

For those of you who haven’t played this game yet, you play a porter (you deliver packaged, parcels, messages, etc from one outpost to the next) so far so good. You get a message that the president (IE your mum) wants to see you, she’s on her death bed and goes on about some hair brain scheme to contact all the outposts to this network.

You tell her where to go and she leaps out of bed, coughs up some oil (that what it looks like) and dies, and guess who has to depose of her body.

Anyway you get back and the president wants to see you (she’s your sister), about 3 years ago she left on this hair brained expedition, she’s on the west coast and has been captured and wants you to rescue her and of course “since you going that way anyway can you stop of and contact these outpost to the network and deliver some cargo whist you at it”

So you leave carrying enough cargo to brake a pack animal’s back, bearing in mind you’ve got to deal with cliffs, mountings, valleys and rivers (you can bring along a ladder to help you climb cliffs and cross rivers and a rope to climb down cliffs and help cross rivers, but you generally leave them behind for other players, unless you piss off other players by using the ladder to climb a cliff, use a rope to climb back down, collect the ladder, climb back up the rope and collect the rope).

And not forgetting the BT’s (fuck knows what they are some kind of undead), it flows over the local area like a tide only it looks like an oil slick with whales splashing around and something that looks like a giant squid, and men covered in oil trying to pull you under. (You don’t want to get pulled under)

Then there’s the BB’s (Bridge Babies, 100% real human babies) you have one attached to the front of your harness and they’re the only way you can detect the BT’s (seriously You don’t want to get pulled under)

You get to an outpost and unless a) your dropping of cargo b) about to contact them to the network or c) there to pick up more work their not interested. I got to an outpost once, after fighting my way though a BT infected area, covered in oil, about to drop dead and it was “drop of the cargo, contact us to the net, we’ve got more work for you, right on your way”. Didn’t even have a time for a cold beer.

 

If someone was to make a mod for this game how about one that waits until you’ve completed the network, just for it to crash under the sudden deluge of spam
